Job Description

Shift: 1st shift

About the role

Duties to include, but not limited to; identifying, planning/designing, and executing equipment rebuild projects for Steel Mill production equipment                             

 Principal Duties and Responsibilities:      

  • Develop quotes for parts and assemblies to be repaired or manufactured new.
  • Develop job routings and detailed work instructions to be carried out in the shop.
  • Markup and modify prints to coincide with the routing of the parts. Research, design, evaluate, install, operate, and maintain mechanical products, equipment, systems and processes to meet requirements, applying knowledge of engineering principles.
  • Specify system components or direct modification of products to ensure conformance with engineering design and performance specifications.
  • Assist drafters in developing the structural design of products, using drafting tools or computer-assisted design/drafting equipment and software.
  • Develop, coordinate, and monitor all aspects of production, including selection of manufacturing /repair methods, fabrication, and operation of product designs.
  • Estimate costs and submit bids for engineering solutions.
  • Provide technical customer service.
  • Confer with engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures.
  • Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair to ensure that machines and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications.
  • Recommend design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
  • Research and analyze customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications

 

Qualifications

About you

Knowledge and abilities

Ability to:

  • run multiple projects of varying degrees of difficulty at one time.
  • demonstrate stront project management skills.
  • read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings
  • demonstrate proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and MS Office products.
  • demonstrate experience in continuous improvement through the design and modification of existing equipment.
  • display excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with multiple levels within the organization.
  • develop relationships with various work groups and other functional areas to achieve project goals.
  • utilize organizational systems for the purpose of tracking, monitoring and communicating the progress of projects.

 

Education, qualifications and certifications

  • BSME degree or a combination of equivalent education and experience

Experience

  • 5 years or 10 years of relevant industry experience (can be combined with required experience)
  • Hands on experience with welding, machine building, or machining a plus
