Job Description

About the role

  • Develop new (and/or make modifications to existing) equipment and component designs based on specifications from customer, input from sales, or instruction by senior engineer.
  • Generate detailed manufacturing drawings for components and mechanical layout drawings for assemblies in SolidWorks design software.
  • Generate pneumatic and/or hydraulic schematics, based on previous designs or new design by senior engineer, in either AutoCad Mechanical or SolidWorks design software.
  • Perform rudimentary engineering analysis (including F.E.A.) of components and/or equipment using a combination of computer simulation, models, and hand calculations.
  • Correspond and consult with customers, sales, suppliers, and internal management to discuss designs, project status, and to resolve issues.
  • Provide technical assistance to all other EIT departments as needed.
  • Analyze and prepare cost estimates for customer projects, working from inspection drawings, blueprints, specifications and related information supplied by the customer or by EIT Inspection Dept.
  • Determine the most economical manufacturing processes, methods, and sequences, required tooling, labor needs, and appropriate time values, to insure an efficient and orderly flow of work through the plant

About you

Knowledge and abilities

Ability to

  • demonstrate working knowledge of SolidWorks design software and a functional knowledge of AutoCad Mechanical
  • demonstrate basic knowledge of industry mechanical drawing standards and engineering practices & nomenclature
  • demonstrate an ability to think critically, work independently, be inventive, and function professionally in a sometimes stressful environment
  • demonstrate a good attitude, ability to work with others, ability to learn, and a good general level of curiosity
  • demonstrate general project management skills
  • demonstrate general literacy in most basic windows based computer software packages is expected
  • demonstrate organizational and time management skills
  • demonstrate oral and written communication skills

Education, qualifications and certifications

  • Engineering Degree or Commensurate Experience (Degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering preferred)

Experience

  • 0-3 Years of Mechanical or Design Engineering Experience
