Company Description
The ECP Business Development Manager is a position created to expand ECP’s scope and reach in Africa and worldwide, and to deepen the management and administrative capacity of the commercial team.
The position supports the commercial efforts of the company including conference sales, strategic communications initiatives, representing ECP at global events, sales team oversight and coaching, and supporting the commercial director in their role.
Job Description
- All existing duties of the account executive position including meeting sales targets.
- Support the Commercial Director in the overall management of the commercial/sales department, including assisting in managing account managers assigned to mining-related projects, liaising with the marketing team and other company departments, providing administrative support, overseeing reporting and KPI management, directing account executives, and representing the department in internal and external meetings.
- Initiate, coordinate and maintain strategic partnerships and strategic client relationships for the company, ensuring alignment and benefits across ECP’s portfolio of services.
- Represent ECP at regional and global events, to find new leads and engage with current clients and partners. Identify external events where ECP should be present. Support for commercial team on site at ECP events.
- Develop a pipeline of strategic communications opportunities and sell these to enhance business reach and effectiveness.
- Assist the Conference Director with onboarding of new sales hires and help train the sales team (at annual training and ongoing), ensuring they understand the specific approaches needed in each country and are well-prepared to succeed.
- Organize and lead training programs and workshops at the annual commercial training and at other times during the year as directed by the Commercial Director.
- Maintain and uphold ECP internal KPIs, reporting standards and best practices, including usage of CRM, project management tools, data management, registration systems etc.
- Leverage an existing portfolio of established relationships and clients within the mining sector to drive new business opportunities and strategic partnerships.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Business Administration, Marketing, Commerce, or a related field.
- At least 5 years’ proven experience in Sales or Business Development, preferably within the events, conferences, exhibitions, or mining sectors.
- Demonstrated experience in originating and closing new business opportunities.
- Established network of relationships and clients within the mining sector.
- Strong understanding of B2B sales cycles, sponsorship sales, and partnership development.
- Excellent negotiation, presentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to develop and execute strategic business development plans.
- Proficiency in CRM software (HubSpot) and MS Office Suite.
