- 2 Year Fixed Term opportunity, Sydney or Melbourne based
As a Category Implementation Manager within our Commercial Buying stream, you will be the ultimate change agent and strategic bridge between our technology and Range and Space squads and the front-line category teams.
Your role is critical: you will drive the seamless adoption, understanding, and commercial success of our new AI-driven Range Review capabilities.
By leveraging your deep category knowledge, you will demystify new tools, guide your peers through the change curve, and ensure our new range optimization technologies deliver outstanding, customer-centric results.
Sound good? Read on.
Here's a snapshot of the responsibilities:
- Serve as an AI Literacy Change Agent for the commercial business, translating complex data intelligence into practical, everyday habits that elevate the team's digital confidence.
- You will design and deliver highly effective engagements, tailored training programs, and practical resources that ensure commercial squads are fully equipped and excited to run their range cycles using new platforms.
- Partner closely with Change Management specialists to design and embed role clarity, maintain team momentum, and keep commercial stakeholders connected to the overarching transformation vision.
- Develop and execute localized implementation plans that minimize disruption and rapidly scale the utilization of new range tools across BWS and Dan Murphy's teams.
- You will support stakeholder readiness assessments to proactively identify friction points within category teams, turning skepticism into active advocacy.
- Establish and track engagement KPIs to ensure the business is maximizing the tools' value, directly linking high user adoption to superior range health and space productivity.
- Act as a critical bidirectional feedback loop—translating real-world category nuances and user behaviors into actionable feedback for developers, and returning to the business with refined, easy-to-use enhancements.
- You will consolidate ground-level feedback from range review cycles, collaborating with technical squads to prioritize future software features that truly make the category teams' lives easier.
- Partner with project team members to validate that range recommendations and reporting outputs are practical, commercial, and trusted by the business unit.
Qualifications
Now let’s talk about you:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, HR, Communications, or a related field.
- Several years of experience within retail buying, category management, or category functions.
- You possess a deep, first-hand understanding of how range reviews are executed, from initial assortment strategy to final shelf implementation.
- You have a proven track record of supporting or driving process changes, system implementations, or new ways of working within a commercial team.
- You are a master communicator with exceptional verbal and written communication skills, showing a unique ability to present complex project information in a simple, compelling, and engaging manner.
- You are a natural collaborator who can build immediate trust and influence up, down, and across complex matrix structures without relying on direct authority.
- You act as an empathetic coach, passionate about mentoring and empowering peers, with a proven ability to guide teams safely through the anxiety of shifting operational habits.
- You are resilient and navigational, thriving in fluid, fast-paced environments, remaining composed under pressure, and maintaining team energy in the face of evolving project roadmaps.
- You strike the perfect balance between data-driven insights and real-world retail realities, keeping the customer experience at the center of every range decision.
- You are a highly autonomous self-starter with a growth mindset who looks at change as an opportunity to innovate and improve organizational effectiveness end-to-end.
- Previous experience acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on strategic corporate initiatives or cross-functional agile squads is highly regarded, as is experience helping traditional, mature business units adapt to agile frameworks and data-led decision-making.
