Job Description
The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for coordinating the global Accounts Payable teams within their area of responsibility, ensuring efficient and compliant operations. The role drives performance through strong people leadership, effective controls, audit readiness, process standardisation, continuous improvement and automation. The AP Manager also works closely with key stakeholders to resolve operational issues, improve service delivery and support the wider Procure-to-Pay strategy.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Lead global Accounts Payable operations, setting priorities, service standards and performance objectives while ensuring timely, accurate and efficient invoice processing, payments and month-end activities.
- Manage, coach and develop AP Team Leaders and Process Coordinators, building team capability, promoting accountability and ensuring appropriate capacity, succession and performance management across the function.
- Own the AP control and compliance environment, ensuring SOX controls, internal controls, policies, procedures and desk-level documentation are appropriately designed, implemented, performed and evidenced.
- Support internal and external audits, working closely with Internal Audit, External Audit, Finance, IT and other stakeholders to address findings, strengthen controls and ensure timely completion of remediation actions.
- Drive standardisation and continuous improvement across AP, maintaining an AP roadmap aligned with the wider Procure-to-Pay operating model and delivering improvements in quality, efficiency, working capital and stakeholder experience.
- Lead AP automation and technology initiatives, identifying opportunities to simplify processes, reduce manual activity and improve data quality through Oracle capabilities, workflow automation, analytics and other digital solutions.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated management experience within Accounts Payable, finance operations, shared services or a broader Procure-to-Pay environment.
- Proven experience leading and developing operational teams
- Strong knowledge of end-to-end Accounts Payable processes, including invoice processing, payments, supplier queries, month-end activities and working capital considerations.
- Experience managing internal controls, SOX compliance, audit requirements, operational procedures and remediation actions.
- Proven track record of delivering process improvements, standardisation, automation and systems enhancements within an AP or finance operations environment.
- Experience using operational data, KPIs, analytics and reporting to monitor performance, identify risks and drive corrective actions.
- Experience working with ERP systems, preferably Oracle, and with workflow, invoice automation, reporting or other digital finance tools.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience collaborating across Finance, Procurement, Treasury, Tax, IT, Internal Audit, External Audit and business teams.
- Experience operating in a complex, multi-country, shared-services or matrixed organisation.
- Strong communication, problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage escalations and balance operational priorities, controls and service delivery.
