Internship Timeframe: Spring/Summer 2025, 10 weeks

Job Description

The Process Engineering Intern will work intimately with critical manufacturing processes and equipment to optimize EnPower’s electrode and cell manufacturing processes. The Process Engineering Intern will be responsible for providing feedback to the R&D Team on the processability of electrodes and cells and recommending changes to enable successful production.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Learn multiple electrode or cell manufacturing processes (mixing, coating, assembly, and/or finishing).
  • Work with the Process or Cell Engineers to optimize a given production process.
  • Understand electrode production specifications and maintain quality control standards.
  • Use a computer to keep detailed records and collect accurate data.
  • Provide observations and feedback to Cell Engineers and/or Engineering Teams on processing challenges.
  • Contribute hands-on work for various projects and experiments.
  • Contribute to development efforts related to production process development, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Attend and engage in engineering process review discussions as needed.
  • Work closely with team members and help whenever necessary.
  • Maintain a safe working environment while adhering to health and safety laws.

Qualifications

  • Working towards a B.S. in an Engineering-related field
  • 1+ years of experience working with lab-scale or manufacturing equipment
  • Experience using the scientific method to solve problems
  • Detailed work ethic, close attention to detail, and precise communication
  • Microsoft office proficiency and computer literacy
  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and perform the following for extended periods of time:
    • Standing or sitting
    • Climbing/squatting/walking
    • Repetitive motions and lifting 
  • The ideal candidate will have prior experience in electrode/cell manufacturing techniques  (operating mixers, coaters, punching machines, stackers, ultrasonic welders, auto-pipettes, testing equipment, etc.)
