As each individual step in the cell assembly process is critical for high-performing batteries, the electrode mixing engineer will work cross-functionally to ensure that standard operating procedures (SOPs) are properly established, documented, and followed meticulously. You must be dexterous and detail oriented. The electrode mixing engineer will primarily be responsible for the mixing and powder delivery processes. The electrode mixing engineer will be responsible for identifying, qualifying and driving continuous improvement on the equipment used to deliver the powders and create the slurry. Expected duties include driving yield improvement, increasing throughput in the entire mixing and coating process, identifying various types of metrology equipment that allow or real time control and adjustment to the equipment and process to create the highest quality and lowest total cost battery cell in the market.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set up, calibrate, and run metrology equipment to characterize materials and create the slurry.
  • Define manufacturing strategies for pilot, and/or mass production volume production with several order of magnitude improvement
  • Perform research and development activities for new Mix system design and technologies
  • Combine innovative mechanical, controls, and process techniques to establish novel approaches to improve mixing efficiency and material charge/discharge times while maintaining product quality
  • Investigate feasibility studies to aid validation of Mixing manufacturing strategies
  • Work with external and internal equipment suppliers to design and deliver manufacturing line
  • Develop process and equipment specifications, assess vendor capabilities and make sourcing recommendations based on data
  • Solve technically complex problems using fundamental, data driven methodologies
  • Work with cell material suppliers on electrode related issues in production, lead teams to assess path forward
