EnPower, Inc. is an early-stage startup developing next-generation Li-ion batteries that have fast-charging and long cycle-life capabilities—critical enablers to the mass electrification of vehicles. Our R&D, pilot-manufacturing, and sales operations are based out of our engineering facility & headquarters located in the north Phoenix - Deer Valley area where we are producing hundreds of >3.0Ah pouch cells per week. Job Description

The Buyer performs all functions related to planning, purchasing, negotiating, and expediting assigned items. Works closely with engineering, operations and sales departments on assigned projects. Manages supplier relationships, including performance and development, implements inventory programs (consignment, VMI, and stocking), monitors and updates lead-time and safety stocks to ensure continuity of supply.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

• Executing various aspects of procurement including quoting, negotiating, sub-contracting, order processing and resolving order issues.

• Develop sourcing strategies and lead supplier selection process.

• Prepare RFQ’s, negotiate with suppliers, and initiate purchase orders.

• Focus on resolving shortages affecting Manufacturing to ensure continuity of supply.

• Actively pursue methods that will reduce the lead-time for “critical path” materials with no extra risk or expense to EnPower

• This person also has the responsibility to keep the excess & obsolete inventory low and under control.

• Review open orders-initiate actions relative to changes in demand / inventory position.

• Monitor and address supplier’s performance against company quality and delivery goals.

• Develop and manage long term agreements with suppliers that are providing a strategic advantage.

• Identify and develop opportunities for cost reduction utilizing alternative sourcing, negotiation, etc. to achieve company goals and metrics.

• Monitor market and supplier trends for opportunities and risk.

• Performs root cause analysis in respect to assigned commodities, services, or processes to improve customer service.

• Generates continuous improvement projects.

• Expedites when required, material deliveries to meet special operational requirements such as push-ins or special customer requirements.

• Maintain vendor and material master records.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a buyer/planner role or similar with an understanding of battery materials, components, ideally with technical purchasing requirements. MUST come from the battery industry in purchasing.

• 5+ years’ experience preferred in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management (Battery Manuf.)

• Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills

• Ability to determine root cause and perform cause & effect analysis.

• Bachelor’s degree required – preferably in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, or Business Management

• Experience maintaining purchasing information records (PIR) and material master (MM)

• CPIM/CPM certificate is highly desirable.

• Knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office, i.e., Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint

• Knowledge of quality control principles.

• An organized and proactive approach to problem-solving, and the ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced, deadline driven environment.

 

Travel Requirement: 10-20%
