EnPower, Inc. is an early-stage startup developing next-generation Li-ion batteries that have fast-charging and long cycle-life capabilities—critical enablers to the mass electrification of vehicles. Our R&D, pilot-manufacturing, and sales operations are based out of our engineering facility & headquarters located in the north Phoenix - Deer Valley area where we are producing hundreds of >3.0Ah pouch cells per week. Job Description
- Installation and maintenance of company capital equipment
- Develop and perform equipment upgrades to enhance equipment reliability and scalability
- Analyze equipment malfunctions and failures and develop corrective actions
- Design, fabricate, and install new metrology equipment, jigs, and other systems as necessary
- Develop preventative maintenance procedures to reduce equipment failures
- Monitor equipment performance and suggest/develop improvements
- Work with team to develop equipment specifications for next generation tools
- Maintain documents for equipment installation, maintenance, and trouble-shooting
- Responsible for Environmental Health and Safety procedures and compliance.
Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or similar discipline)
- 3-5 years hands-on experience investigating and resolving manufacturing equipment problems
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and trouble-shooting skills
- Proficient with 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Fusion 360, AutoCAD, etc.)
- Proficient in machining (using manual mill, lathe, and basic machine shop tools). Welding skills is a plus
- Fundamental knowledge of mechanical/electrical/fluidic systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work with PLCs, microcontrollers, data acquisition and logging devices, and interfacing with various industrial process sensors. Familiar working with analog/digital signals and industrially-relevant serial communication protocols.
- Ability to learn and understand component level failures in large equipment
- Demonstrated ability to work resourcefully with used/low-cost components and put together equipment prototypes quickly
- Lithium ion battery equipment experience is a plus
