How will you fight for an AIDS-free generation?

Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) is seeking a highly skilled, experienced, and qualified individual to fill the position of Program Officer in Taraba State.

Under the supervision of the Country Manager and in close collaboration with the country team, the Program Officer will provide technical and programmatic support to the development and implementation of interventions aimed at scaling up and improving the quality of HIV services in Taraba State. This position will be accountable for all program activities at the State level including participation in the development and/or implementation of approaches to improve HIV treatment services. 

This position will work very closely with facility healthcare workers, the State Ministry of Health, the State Primary Health Care Development Agency, the Taraba State AIDS Control Agency, Community-based organizations, national and international partners, and representatives from other normative agencies

 

No two days are alike at EGPAF, but what can you expect in this role?

  • Be responsible for day-to-day implementation and coordination of activities to ensure that program goals and objectives are accomplished.
  • Support the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of technical strategies and activities and conduct regular monitoring of work plan implementation and analysis of program data.
  • Provide technical assistance at supported facilities to achieve epidemic control by reaching the UNAIDS’ 95-95-95 goal in children and adolescents living with HIV.
  • Support the design and implementation of interventions and innovative approaches to improve the quality of service for children, adolescents, and pregnant and breastfeeding adolescent girls and young women.
  • Facilitate the development and oversee implementation of quality improvement activities at the facility and state level.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders including implementing partners, state and LGA actors, and facility staff.
  • Provide mentorship and conduct site-level monitoring to build the capacity of pediatric case managers, volunteers, and health facility staff to provide high-quality HIV services, including data quality.
  • Develop program reports and other program/technical documents in a timely manner.
  • Represent EGPAF at relevant state–level fora, scientific and technical meetings.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of all program strategies, timely submission of quality program and innovation data as required (monthly, quarterly, etc.), and strengthen facility data management systems.

 

Qualifications

To be successful, you will have:

  • University degree or its equivalent in Social/Behavioural/ Medical Sciences/Sciences or related field of study.
  • 3-4 years of experience in supporting PMTCT, Pediatric, and adolescent HIV services in Nigeria.
  • Proven practical experience in providing technical support, and training of healthcare workers including project monitoring and evaluation.
  • Extensive understanding of the HIV epidemic and response in Nigeria, including up-to-date knowledge of guidelines; knowledge of national HIV treatment guidance and standards is an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in using MS Office packages including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook among others.
  • Excellent written, oral, management, and communications skills, strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with good problem-solving skills & creativity, supported by good writing and data interpretation skills.

 

Bonus points if you have:

  • Good understanding of the healthcare system and demonstrated experience in working with multiple stakeholders
