Job Description

Element 84 is seeking an engineer who has specific interests and experience with QA and testing (both automated and manual) to support teams developing exciting and impactful software on our FilmDrop (https://www.element84.com/filmdrop/)  platform. The ideal candidate will be familiar with Agile software development processes and be comfortable working within software development teams performing tasks described below. Beyond project support, the Quality Assurance Engineer will also have an opportunity to contribute to and grow Element 84’s quality practice.

 

Qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • Support testing efforts as a part of Agile / Scrum teams
  • Participate in planning and help define acceptance criteria
  • Develop, execute and maintain test plans, test scenarios, test suites and test cases
  • Create and maintain a collection of Postman requests to cover all API functionality
  • Execute and coordinate integration, system, regression and user acceptance testing
  • Provide estimates associated with testing activities and tasks
  • Define issues and collect data needed to help troubleshoot
  • Communicate found issues to Project Manager & development team through JIRA
  • Assist with building automated tests
  • Track and report on test status using established QA metrics and KPIs for assigned projects
  • Provide input on go / no-go decisions for releases
  • Support incident recovery after-hours if necessary (additional compensation paid for after-hours availability)

Required Technical Experience

  • Using the command line
  • Using git for version control including making changes and creating a pull request
  • Using git and npm to access and run a project locally
  • Creating and maintaining new scripts in Javascript with Cypress for end to end testing
  • Creating and maintaining new scripts in Javascript with Jest and Enzyme for React testing
  • Running Cypress scripts with the command line

Skills:

  • Experience with continuous deployment and software testing
  • Experience in Agile / Scrum methodologies
  • Experience with software development life cycle (SDLC)
  • Overall experience testing a large application with complex business logic
  • Using Postman for API testing
  • Creating and maintaining a testing suite
  • Using JIRA to log and track issues
  • Experience writing automated tests. 
    • Cypress
    • React
    • Offline testing using AWS services
    • Jest
    • Familiarity with Node
  • Experience with Sonarqube would be a plus
  • Experience with Test Project would be a plus
  • Experience with geo-spatial data would be a plus

This position may be governed by a federal contract which requires the applicant to be a U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization.
