Job Description

The Lead designation shall be given to hourly employees who are regularly assigned group leader responsibilities in addition to the regular duties for their particular job.

  • Relay work instructions from the supervisor; provide training and technical assistance to employees within the assigned work area.
  • Distribute and monitor the flow of work for an assigned group of employees.
  • Assist supervisor in assuring that workers in the group are provided with appropriate tools, materials and methods.
  • Assist supervisor in maintaining good housekeeping within the assigned work area by monitoring for, and communicating, appropriate procedures and practices to employees in the group.
  • Communicate with personnel, within and outside of the group, to furnish or obtain related information.
  • Report related problems or unusual circumstances to supervisor that occur during his/her absence from the work area.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of all equipment, hand tools, housekeeping, safety, record keeping and processes appropriate to employees in the assigned work group.
  • Perform advanced testing of complex diagnostic instruments.
  • Test, troubleshoot and repair electro-mechanical products to the component level.
  • Support products across a variety of programs and of various design complexity.
  • Assist in the development of new procedures and processes.
  • Identify trends in data and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor, consistent with company policies.

Lead Technicians are NOT responsible for the following activities:

  • Responsibility for the performance of a work group, or individual employees.
  • Preparing or conducting employee performance reviews.
  • Maintaining time and attendance records.
  • Assigning overtime work to employees.
  • Any aspect of employee discipline.

Qualifications

  • Requires a High School diploma, Trade School graduate preferred, and 6-8 years of related experience enabling capability to perform the above responsibilities; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess a basic understanding of electronic principals to test and troubleshoot electro-mechanical products.
  • Good communication and training skills to provide guidance and relay information
  • Strong organizational skills
