Job Description

The Supply Chain Intern will be responsible for assisting the materials planning, production scheduling and purchasing team for assigned products and/or manufacturing cells.  Training and cooperatively assisting in purchasing a wide variety of nonstandard, specialized and custom equipment and materials requiring knowledge of electronic and/or mechanical product specifications and sources of supply.  Collaborate with the supply chain team to negotiate, review contracts and award purchase orders.  Evaluates requisitions for planned orders for custom nonstandard items, conferring with technical personnel on specifications and possible alternatives; determines the best sources of supply; maintains and utilizes commodity knowledge & market conditions to reduce component pricing. Develop an understanding and aids in establishing preferred suppliers while setting expectations and activities to enable cost reduction from those suppliers. Works with respective production planners and buyers to identify cost reduction opportunities and process improvements. 
 
•    Train and collaboratively assist with all aspects of the KMC supply chain team.
•    Analyzes reports and works effectively with supplier to maximize cash flow opportunities.
•    Works on complex “developmental” and “transition to production” programs and other projects with supervision.
•    Utilizing understanding of supplier capabilities, makes sound supplier selections.
•    Creates planning BOM and ensures accuracy for customer .
•    Develop knowledge of MRP and its relationship with most facets of the business.
•    Training on detailed production schedules in the ERP system for assigned products, and monitor their status, up through delivery to customers.
•    Analyze movement of materials with purchasing, inventory, production and engineering.
•    Knowledge and ability to distribute required daily/weekly/monthly reports and communicate status during required meetings.
•    Learn and assist process to set up Kanban with assistance.
•    Training on accounts payable requirements and actively resolve AP issues for supply chain.
•    Collaboration with quality team on NCMR actively, return to vendor and credit process.
•    Training with supply chain inventory control to help identify improvements for inventory replenishment and work with a manufacturing team and supplier(s) to establish the right type of replenishment strategy.
•    Assists in the establishment of project goals, milestones, and procedures.
•    Communicates well both verbally and in writing, creates accurate and punctual reports, delivers presentations, shares information and ideas with others, has good listening skills.
•    Cooperates with coworkers and helps team leader meet goals. Shares information and ideas with the team. •    Understands the need to develop a relationship and develops a strategy to build a strong relationship, especially with key suppliers.
•    Assists in development of RFP and quoting strategies. Determines sourcing selection based on negotiation results.
•    Determines and develops best sources of supply from knowledge of supply base, product performance and capabilities.
•    Obtains quotes from suppliers negotiating for optimum pricing, quality, delivery schedule and terms and conditions.
•    Serves as liaison between company and supplier regarding all changes in or problems with material deliveries to meet production schedules. 
•    Actively seek assistance of other departments to insure fulfillment of the purchase order.
•    Performs price analysis with supply chain team utilizing commodity knowledge and market conditions to reduce component pricing. 
•    Works with respective team members to identify cost reduction opportunities.
•    Request assistance from interfacing departments such as Finance or Legal as required, negotiating the purchase in accordance with company and government regulations.
•    Coordinate the resolution to supplier problems with interfacing departments.
•    Participate on continuous improvement activities.
•    Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
 
•     Near completion of BS or BA degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations or related equivalent required.
•    Coursework or familiar with lean six sigma training or project completion preferred.
•    Solid analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
•    Knowledge of fixed pricing agreements and vendor managed inventory.
•    Understanding of supply chain, purchasing, production planning and/or commodity management.
•    The ability to influence stakeholders and work closely with them to determine acceptable solutions.
•    Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – written & verbal.
•    Experience creating detailed reports and presentations.
•    Proficiency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
•    Attention to detail and accuracy in day-to-day responsibilities
•    Ability to multitask and manage projects in a fast-paced environment. 
•    Ability to analyze and define problems and resolve them in a timely manner.
•    Ability to respond appropriately in pressure situations.

Qualifications

•     Near completion of BS or BA degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations or related equivalent required.
•    Coursework or familiar with lean six sigma training or project completion preferred.
•    Solid analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
•    Knowledge of fixed pricing agreements and vendor managed inventory.
•    Understanding of supply chain, purchasing, production planning and/or commodity management.
•    The ability to influence stakeholders and work closely with them to determine acceptable solutions.
