The  Design Quality/Reliability  Engineering Manager assures the ongoing integrity, adequacy, and appropriateness of the developmental engineering management processes, developmental configuration management, independent testing, test facilities, and sub-contract engineering projects through selecting, developing, motivating and evaluating Design Quality staff for the KMC Systems division of Elbit Systems of America.

Job Description

  • Establish, implement, and maintain a Design Quality Management System.
  • Provide support for Design Reliability requirements/Calculations
  • Ensuring the ongoing integrity, adequacy, and appropriateness of the KMC Systems developmental engineering management processes, developmental configuration management, independent testing, test facilities, and sub-contract engineering projects.
  • Developing, modifying, applying, and maintaining standards for Design Quality Division operating methods, processes, systems and procedures.
  • Identifying and assisting with implementation of in-house training curriculum for Design Quality Engineering, including philosophy, methodology, tools, etc.
  • Selecting, developing, motivating, and evaluating Design Quality Division staff.
  • Working with executive management to provide career-oriented growth opportunities for Design Quality Engineering staff.
  • Assignment of Design Quality Department staff to projects in order to obtain maximum utilization of human resources in achieving ESA Merrimack Quality Objectives.
  • Maintaining a cutting-edge knowledge of Design Quality Engineering techniques through review of current literature, participation in professional activities, and acquisition & maintenance of appropriate certifications and registrations.
  • Adhere to internal ethics/procedures and external regulations and laws.
  • Complete projects as assigned by Director of Quality & Regulatory Affairs.

Authorities:

  • Defining the Design Quality functional organization and infrastructure in conjunction with KMC’s Director of Quality & Regulatory Affairs.
  • Represent the Design Quality function on ESA, KMC, and customer teams.
  • Participation in the control processes necessary to provide evidence of conformance to requirements and of the effectiveness of the Quality Management System.
  • Prevent the delivery of KMC Systems products, documents, services, or other articles to customers or other stakeholders when there is evidence that they may not meet customer, statutory, regulatory, company, or other stakeholder requirements.
  • Recommend to the Manager of Supplier Quality the approval of suppliers for the Product Design & Development process.
  • Recommend to the Manager of Supplier Quality the suspension of the use of suppliers when there is evidence that the products may not meet KMC Systems, customer, statutory, regulatory, or other stakeholder requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree / Master’s degree preferred in engineering, Computer Science or equivalent technical discipline
  • 5-10 years of Medical Device Experience is a must
  • Must have knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM)
  • Must have experience with the use of calculations for the MTBF (Meantime between Failures)  
  • Must have reliability engineering experience
  • Must have experience with product design and development
  • Process based leadership is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with PDM/ PLM
  • Internal Audit experience

Preferred (but not required):

  • Certified Quality Manager
  • Certified Software Quality Engineer
  • ISO 9001 Lead Assessor
