Job Description

We're looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to play a key role in strengthening our financial operations, supporting business growth, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial reporting.

Reporting directly to the Controller, you'll take ownership of core accounting activities, serve as a key partner in managing internal and external audits, and help drive improvements across financial processes and controls.

This is an opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional who enjoys solving complex problems, collaborating across teams, and making a meaningful impact on how a business operates.

The Impact You'll Make

Lead Audit Readiness & Technical Accounting

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for external financial statement auditors, coordinating audit requests, schedules, documentation, and communications.

  • Support internal, FAR, and other regulatory or compliance audits, partnering closely with the Controller to ensure timely and accurate responses.

  • Apply strong technical accounting knowledge to resolve complex accounting matters, support audit findings, and strengthen financial controls.

  • Identify opportunities to improve audit readiness, documentation, and accounting processes.

Own Financial Accounting & Month-End Close

  • Oversee core accounting operations, including general ledger activities, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and month-end close.

  • Partner with the Controller to improve balance sheet accuracy, resolve accounting discrepancies, and maintain strong financial controls.

  • Monitor general ledger activity and collaborate with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams to ensure accurate financial classification and reporting.

  • Support revenue recognition activities and evolving accounting requirements as the organization continues to integrate systems and processes.

Drive Financial Reporting & Business Insights

  • Prepare and maintain financial reporting, reconciliations, and supporting schedules used for management reporting and business decisions.

  • Partner with finance leadership on monthly business reviews, including financial and operational performance metrics.

  • Analyze financial information, identify trends and variances, and provide actionable insights to support business performance.

  • Respond to financial reporting and documentation requests from internal stakeholders, clients, vendors, and government entities.

Partner Across Finance & Project Operations

  • Collaborate with project controlling teams to ensure project financial activity, including work-in-progress (WIP), billing, and revenue, is accurately reflected in the general ledger.

  • Support the organization's transition toward percentage-of-completion accounting and future ERP enhancements.

  • Work with project managers, department leaders, and finance partners to resolve accounting issues and improve the timeliness and accuracy of financial information.

  • Coordinate intercompany accounting activities and support financial reporting across Egis entities.

Strengthen Financial Operations & Continuous Improvement

  • Support cash management activities, including monitoring cash flow, coordinating with Treasury, and ensuring sufficient liquidity for business operations.

  • Provide guidance and support to AP/AR team members, helping strengthen processes, accountability, and consistency.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows, improve reporting accuracy, and strengthen internal controls.

  • Partner with the Controller and broader finance organization on process improvements, system transitions, and other strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Progressive experience in financial accounting, general ledger management, month-end close, and financial reporting.

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial controls, balance sheet reconciliations, and technical accounting principles.

  • Experience supporting or managing external financial statement audits, including preparing audit schedules, coordinating requests, and resolving findings.

  • Ability to independently manage competing priorities, solve complex accounting issues, and deliver accurate results under tight deadlines.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments and with external stakeholders.

  • Experience identifying process improvements and strengthening accounting operations.

  • A hands-on, proactive approach with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.

Even Better If You Have

  • CPA designation.

  • Previous public accounting or external audit experience.

  • Experience in engineering, consulting, professional services, construction, or other project-based environments.

  • Familiarity with project accounting concepts, including WIP, revenue recognition, and percentage-of-completion accounting.

  • Experience with ERP systems, financial systems implementations, or accounting process transformations.

  • Exposure to FAR audits, government contracting, or multi-entity accounting environments.
