Job Description
Role Overview
Egis is seeking an experienced and motivated Associate Civil Engineer to lead the delivery of wastewater infrastructure projects for Uisce Éireann and other public sector clients. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing multidisciplinary project teams, maintaining strong client relationships, and delivering complex wastewater treatment and collection system projects from concept through to commissioning.
This is a senior, client-facing position requiring strong technical expertise, project management capability, and leadership skills. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to the growth of Egis' Water business while supporting the delivery of critical national wastewater infrastructure.
Location: Dublin/Cork/Limerick/Castlebar (Hybrid)
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Management
- Lead the planning, design and delivery of wastewater treatment and collection projects.
- Manage projects through all stages of delivery, including feasibility, concept design, planning, detailed design, procurement, construction support and commissioning.
- Act as Project Manager on major wastewater and infrastructure projects.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely, to programme, within budget and in accordance with quality standards.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including civil, process, mechanical, electrical, environmental and planning specialists.
- Manage project risk, programme, resources and financial performance.
Client Relationship Management
- Serve as a primary point of contact for Uisce Éireann and other key clients.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and successful project delivery.
- Lead project progress meetings, workshops and stakeholder engagements.
- Understand client objectives and provide strategic technical advice.
- Support framework management and contribute to securing repeat business opportunities.
Technical Leadership
- Provide technical oversight and quality assurance for wastewater treatment and network projects.
- Review and approve designs, specifications, reports and technical submissions.
- Mentor and develop engineers and project managers.
- Drive innovation and promote best practice in wastewater infrastructure delivery.
- Support the development of technical standards and procedures within the business.
Business Development
- Support the preparation of bids, tenders and framework submissions.
- Identify opportunities for business growth within existing client accounts.
- Participate in industry forums and represent Egis in client and professional engagements.
- Contribute to strategic business planning within the Water sector.
Commercial & Contract Management
- Monitor project profitability and commercial performance.
- Manage project budgets and resource allocations.
- Administer engineering contracts and support contract negotiations.
- Ensure compliance with client requirements and company governance procedures.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (Level 8) or higher in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status with Engineers Ireland or equivalent professional institution.
- Full clean driving licence.
Experience Requirements
- Typically 10+ years of relevant experience in the planning, design and delivery of water or wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Significant experience delivering projects for Uisce Éireann, local authorities or similar public sector utility clients.
- Proven track record in project management of multidisciplinary engineering projects.
- Experience managing project teams and mentoring technical staff.
- Strong client-facing and stakeholder management experience.
- Experience supporting projects through design, procurement, construction and commissioning phases.
- Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, pumping stations, rising mains, sewer networks and sludge management infrastructure would be advantageous.
- Experience working under NEC, FIDIC or Public Works Contracts is desirable.
