Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our operations team at our port and terminal facility in Kuwait City, Kuwait. In this role, you will oversee the design, installation, maintenance, and optimization of electrical systems critical to our port operations. You will lead a team of electrical professionals and collaborate with cross-functional departments to ensure reliable power distribution, equipment functionality, and adherence to international maritime electrical standards. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical capabilities, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage complex electrical projects in a fast-paced maritime environment.
- Design, develop, and implement electrical systems and infrastructure for port terminal operations, including power distribution networks, backup power systems, and control systems
- Analyze electrical system performance and conduct root cause analysis on equipment failures, providing efficient solutions to minimize downtime
- Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of electrical equipment and systems, ensuring compliance with international standards and local regulations
- Manage preventive and corrective maintenance programs for electrical equipment, coordinating with maintenance teams to optimize system reliability
- Lead and mentor a team of electrical technicians and junior engineers, providing technical guidance and performance feedback
- Develop and maintain comprehensive electrical documentation, including single-line diagrams, control schematics, and standard operating procedures
- Conduct electrical safety audits and implement safety protocols to ensure a secure working environment for all personnel
- Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to plan and execute capital improvement projects within budget and timeline constraints
- Monitor and optimize energy consumption across terminal operations, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements
- Stay current with industry best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements in port and maritime electrical systems
Qualifications
- Minimum 8 years of professional experience as an electrical engineer, with at least 5 years in port, terminal, or heavy industrial environments
- Proven expertise in electrical systems design, power distribution, and industrial control systems
- Strong proficiency with electrical design software such as AutoCAD, ETAP, or equivalent simulation tools
- Hands-on experience with SCADA systems, PLC programming, and industrial automation
- Demonstrated project management experience, including planning, budgeting, and execution of electrical projects
- Leadership experience managing technical teams and mentoring junior staff
- In-depth knowledge of electrical safety standards, maritime regulations, and international electrical codes
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented approach to work
- Strong organizational abilities and the capacity to manage multiple priorities efficiently
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex electrical drawings and technical specifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent professional certification in electrical engineering
- Electrical safety certifications (e.g., OSHA, IEC standards) are highly desirable
- Familiarity with port terminal operations and maritime electrical systems is preferred
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across departments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software
