Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Highway Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering department, you will lead the design and development of complex highway projects, ensuring the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and sustainability.
- Develop and oversee comprehensive highway design plans, including alignment, grading, drainage, and traffic control systems
- Utilize advanced highway design software to create detailed 3D models and construction drawings
- Conduct thorough analysis of traffic patterns, environmental impacts, and safety considerations to optimize design solutions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including environmental specialists, geotechnical engineers, and construction managers
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and national highway design standards and regulations
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources to deliver high-quality designs on schedule
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to the design team
- Prepare and present technical reports, design proposals, and project updates to clients and stakeholders
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in highway design and engineering
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering required; Master's degree preferred
- Professional Engineering (PE) license
- 7 - 9 years' experience in highway design and engineering, with a proven track record of successful large-scale infrastructure projects
- Advanced proficiency in highway design software, such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation
- Strong knowledge of traffic analysis software and techniques
- In-depth understanding of highway design principles, construction methods, and materials
- Familiarity with environmental impact assessments and mitigation strategies
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail
- Strong project management abilities, including resource allocation and budget control
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for collaborating with team members and presenting to clients
- Experience with local and national highway design standards and regulations
- Relevant certifications in highway design or transportation engineering are a plus
