Job Description
- Service Life Design: Utilize numerical modeling to predict the service life of new structures and define performance requirements to meet owner objectives.
- Material Selection & Testing: Develop and test specialized concrete mixtures, including studying permeability, creep, shrinkage, and resistance to corrosion or chemical attack.
- Structural Assessment: Conduct site visits, condition surveys, and forensic evaluations of existing concrete structures to identify damage mechanisms.
- Rehabilitation Strategy: Design repair methods and maintenance plans for concrete infrastructure to extend its usable life.
- Code Compliance: Ensure designs and material specifications comply with relevant technical codes and standards (e.g., ACI, ASTM).
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of concrete microstructure, hydration, and degradation mechanisms (corrosion, ASR, sulfates).
- Field Experience: Experience in laboratory testing of concrete and site inspection.
- Software Proficiency: Proficiency in service life modeling software (e.g., STADIUM) or structural analysis tools.
