The Financial Controller will play a pivotal role in ensuring financial integrity, strategic decision-making, and regulatory compliance across our diverse portfolio of projects. You will collaborate closely with senior management and stakeholders to provide accurate financial analysis, insights, and recommendations that drive operational efficiency and profitability in line with the accounting standards, financial guidelines and PFMA 2015. 

Job Description

Key Responsibilities :

  • Manage the financial operations of an organization, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and providing strategic financial guidance to support long-term growth and profitability.
  • Upholding Ethical standards, confidentiality and integrity in financial practices and decision-making,Maintain financial integrity by driving strategic decision-making and supporting the overall financial health and success of the organization in line with the accounting standards, financial guidelines and PFMA 2015,
  • Assist in the management of the company budget, implement all cost control measures to reduce operational budget,
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures and manage outsourced functions,
  • Ensure that sufficient funds are available to meet ongoing operational,
  • Maintain banking relationships and assist in determining the company's proper capital structure,
  • Report to management on variances from the established budget, and the reasons for those variances, assist management in the formulation of its overall strategic direction,
  • Interpret the company's financial results to management and recommend improvement activities,
  • Participate in target costing activities to create products that meet predetermined price goals,
  • Compile key business metrics and report on them to management,
  • Manage the capital budgeting process, based on constraint analysis and discounted cash flow analysis,
  • Receive and process invoices ensuring they are valid for Tax purposes,
  • Ensure invoices are approved and signed by all responsible.
  • Ensure FAR is updated monthly,
  • Weekly Cash point preparation for both entities,
  • Submit approved invoices to Consulting Firm,
  • Review Accounting done by Consulting Firm,
  • Prepare monthly reports after review of accounting done by Consulting (accounting) Firm,
  • Input Payments on the Stanbic online and ensure all are signed and approved before final release,
  • Assist GM in verifying suppliers and drafting of Subcontractors contracts,
  • Prepare Internal reports for CFO EA,
  • Reconcile reports in local accounting software (Tally) with group internal software (Deal/Tagetik),
  • Prepare and update cash forecasts,
  • Prepare budgets as per group policy and reporting structure,
  • Review and ensure that intercompany transactions are reconciled,
  • Engage in benchmarking studies to establish areas of potential operational improvement,
  • Accomplish other more tasks as assigned by management,
  • Overhaul finance protocols, procedures, and strategy,
  • Experience in financial reporting, month-end/year-end closing processes, and preparation of financial statements

Qualifications

  • At least a Bachelor's degree in Fnance or Accounting, Economics, Business Administration of related field,
  • At least 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience for a major large corporation,
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance obligations relevant to financial reporting, taxation, and other financial matters,
  • Software Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems and Microsoft suite especially MS Excel for financial modeling and analysis is essential,
  • Excellent communication skills are essential,
