The role:

The Digital Design Group (DDG) within Information Technology Department has an opening for a Graphic Design Specialist (Casual I), reporting to the Art Director. The Graphic Design Associate will support and work closely with the Director, Art Director, and Project Manager to develop innovative design solutions in supporting our internal partners across the organization. 

EDC casual employees generally work as needed.  A casual position receives statutory benefits of Social Security contributions, Medicare contributions, unemployment insurance, worker’s compensation insurance and sick leave.  A casual position ends when work is complete.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The person in this position is expected to communicate clearly and courteously; to develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, collaborators, co-workers, field sites, and funders; and to work respectfully with EDC colleagues. The job requires adherence to EDC policies & procedures.

The Graphic Design Specialist I will:

  • Design of print and digital projects for internal and external partners, including documents/reports, presentations, social media, event collateral, proposals, infographics, email assets, websites, videos, etc.
  • Collaborate with the Director, Art Director, and Project Manager in order to understand scope, expectations and timeline for each project
  • Work from existing concepts, branding guidelines and templates to create cohesive and consistent assets
  • Layout and production of multi-page reports. Revising designs per client feedback and ensuring copy edits are made properly
  • Working with Senior Leadership to create, review, and walk through ppt presentations
  • Maintenance of photo library, portfolio website and other tasks to support the design team
  • Desire to work in a creative and collaborative environment while managing multiple deadlines, clients and projects simultaneously

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in graphics or multimedia design or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and/or training

Other skills/Experience:

  • 2-5 years relevant experience at a creative agency or in-house at an organization
  • Design portfolio that exhibits solid visual design skills with a strong sense of typography, hierarchy, and layout and examples in both digital and print mediums
  • Competence in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), Microsoft PowerPoint, Word
  • Success at selecting on-brand photography, both from organizational assets as well as stock imagery
  • Ability to work in a team environment and independently and/or in a remote environment
  • Understanding and implementation of accessibility requirements (508c) for inclusive design practice
  • Attention to detail

This position offers an anticipated base hourly range of approximately $60 to $70. Salary offers are made based on market analysis and internal equity.
