Job Description

This Primary Education in Crisis Activity in Ethiopia will meet children’s essential demand for education in Ethiopia. The Activity’s purpose is: Improved learning outcomes, wellbeing, and systems resilience for most vulnerable primary school age children affected by crises in Ethiopia. Achievement of this objective is an essential ingredient for Ethiopia’s long-term stability and economic growth. This Activity will benefit from the robust partnership between USAID and The LEGO Foundation, as it is designed to be co-funded from both organizations. In addition to co-funding, the Activity will draw on the extensive expertise of both organizations in foundational skills and playful learning. 

The COP will have overall responsibility for the activity. S/he will serve as the institutional liaison and will be responsible for overall technical direction and strategic oversight of the project. The following minimum qualifications apply to this Key Personnel position:

The candidate for the position of Chief of Party shall have at a minimum the following qualifications:

Qualifications

Education:

Masters Degree or higher in education or related field.

Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in senior program management implementing humanitarian AND international development activities preferably in Education or Child Development in Africa.
  • Regional experience is preferred.
  • Proven leadership experience involving the administration of similarly sized, international donor-supported programs with skills in strategic planning, inclusive management, supervision, and budgeting.
  • Proven ability to communicate a common vision among diverse partners and the ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Evidence of strong communication skills, both oral and written, to fulfill the diverse technical and managerial requirements of the agreement.

Language:

Professionally proficient and fluent in written and spoken English.
