The Health Promotion, Practice, and Innovation (HPPI) portfolio includes a range of projects that aim to promote social and emotional wellbeing, promote mental and behavioral health, and to prevent risky behaviors such as substance misuse, violence, and suicide. Our project beneficiaries range from state agencies (e.g., state departments of public health and education), community-based organizations, and school districts. Our funders include federal agencies, state agencies, foundations, community-based organizations, and school districts. Our work includes trainings and professional development opportunities, technical assistance and consultation, and research and evaluation.

Job Description

The HPPI Portfolio has 2 openings for SPRC Prevention Specialists (Training and Technical Assistance Specialist IIs), reporting to the SPRC State and Community Initiatives team for EDC’s SPRC contract. These positions are eligible to work in one of EDC’s offices or may be filled by a U.S.-based telecommuter. Internationally based telecommuters are not eligible for this position. Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical assistance and training to states and territories on their state suicide prevention infrastructure
  • Supporting other discrete team projects and coordinating this work with other teams, the SPRC funder, and other national partners as appropriate
  • Advising on, developing, and supporting team workplans, processes, and systems
  • Research, with an understanding of the content area, including identifying tools, resources, trainings, and evidence-based practice that can help stakeholders achieve their objectives
  • Cultivate relationships, work closely and collaboratively with colleagues

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is innovative, autonomous, self-directed, creative, and flexible, has excellent public speaking and writing skills, and strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Specific requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Master’s degree or equivalent combination of training and education in a related field preferred
  • 3–5 years related experience in the disciplinary area, social science or public health research, teaching, training, curriculum design, consulting or administrative management, including experience with computer applications, instructional design, and Internet research
  • Familiarity with multimedia techniques required
  • Excellent analytical skills and aptitude for details
  • Agile understanding and use of technology platforms and software

These positions offer an anticipated annual base salary range of approximately $51,000 to $73,000. Salary offers are made based on market analysis and internal equity.
