The National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention (Action Alliance) is the nation’s public-private partnership for suicide prevention, based at EDC. The Action Alliance brings together senior executives from government, business, and the non-profit sector to champion suicide prevention as a national priority and advance implementation of the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention through collaboration and innovation.

EDC’s Health Promotion, Practice, and Innovation (HPPI) portfolio has an opening for one full-time Project Coordinator. The HPPI portfolio includes projects related to trauma, violence and injury prevention, substance abuse prevention, and mental health and suicide prevention. This position has a specific focus in suicide prevention, and reports to the Director of Communications and Engagement for the Action Alliance Secretariat as part of EDC’s Suicide Prevention Resource Center contract (SPRC).

This position is open to remote work for US-based telecommuters.

Job Description

EDC, with support from the federally funded Suicide Prevention Resource Center (SPRC), is hiring a full-time Project Coordinator.

The Project Coordinator is responsible for organizing and providing timely and responsive project management support of high-visibility suicide prevention and mental health projects focused on delivering national impact and system-wide change. The Project Coordinator works as a full-fledged contributor of Action Alliance project teams while providing project planning, organizational and staff support in a fast-paced environment. This role ensures continuity of operations through the development and execution of processes and procedures while ensuring ready access to Action Alliance publications and support documents over time. The Project Coordinator will work directly with Action Alliance team leaders while also providing direct staff and operational support of the Action Alliance Executive Committee, and Action Alliance Task Forces and Advisory Groups. 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage multiple projects across the Action Alliance and ancillary team
  • Apply project management tools and techniques to organize, kickoff, sustain and complete projects in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Secretariat team and support Action Alliance private and public sector partners, including our Executive Committee (EXCOM)
  • Provide organizational support of EXCOM, Task Force and Advisory Group meetings through project management activities, technical and media support, and provision of administrative and meeting planning services
  • Assist in leading continuity of operations
  • Leverage innovative technology and project management systems to improve access to and dissemination of content

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education & experience
  • At least 2 years related research, education, international development, or administrative coordination experience, requiring computer competence
  • Experience in organizing, coordinating, and managing projects
  • Flexibility and resilience to work at a fast-paced operational tempo
  • Solid team communications and relationship skills
  • Interest in mental health, suicide prevention, and public health

Nice to have’s / Bonus Points:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent combination of training & education in a related field preferred
  • Good judgement and ability to navigate politically sensitive environments
  • Knowledge and experience in using and applying project management software and tools
  • Comfortable with storing and organizing documents in Box, Sharepoint, and Basecamp (or similar applications)
