Job Description

The Center for Early Learning Professionals has an opening for a Training & Technical  Assistance Associate (I), reporting to the PDTA Manager, in Warwick, Rhode Island.

The Center for Early Learning Professionals is operated by Education Development Center (EDC).  EDC has extensive experience supporting the work of early childhood professionals in Rhode Island. Our staff has deep knowledge and expertise in early learning and development, early childhood program management, technical assistance, and adult learning. We are former child care and public school preschool teachers, early intervention specialists, program administrators, and adult educators. In addition to our regular staff, the Center is supported by a pool of highly experienced subject matter experts who have long worked with Rhode Island’s early learning programs.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The person in this position is expected to communicate clearly and courteously; to develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, collaborators, co-workers, field sites, and funders; and to work respectfully with EDC colleagues. The job requires adherence to EDC policies & procedures.

 

Under general guidance, the Training & Technical Assistance Associate (I) participates in complex projects to provide professional development training and technical assistance, including:

  • research, with expertise in content area
  • writing, editing instructional materials
  • conceptualizing and overseeing product testing & evaluation
  • documenting & cataloguing
  • maintaining records, including financial
  • disseminating information
  • leading facilitation of adult learning and web-based learning
  • strategizing
  • consulting with specialists
  • developing presentations
  • assisting with proposal development and project implementation
  • analyzing trends and identifying opportunities
  • developing innovative techniques
  • Facilitating group discussions and presenting content both virtually and face to face 

 

The Training & Technical Assistance Associate (I)

  • Builds knowledge and capacity of organizations and staff
  • Facilitates project teamwork and feedback exchanges
  • Coordinates contract and quality adherence
  • Coordinates administrative and logistical tasks
  • Troubleshoots complex problems, proposing initiatives and recommending or negotiating solutions
  • Provides training and guidance or administrative direction to junior staff; may supervise support staff
  • May lead parts of a project or coordinate sections of larger projects
  • May travel frequently within the state of Rhode Island

Qualifications

This position requires educational achievement; excellent writing skills; demonstrable initiative, creativity, and flexibility; ability to work independently and effectively in groups; and strong interpersonal & organizational skills. Specific requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Master’s degree or teacher certification or equivalent combination of training and education in a related field preferred
  • With Bachelor’s degree, 5–8 years related experience in the disciplinary area, social science or public health research, education, training, curriculum design, consulting, organizational development or administrative management, including experience with computer applications, instructional design, and Internet research
  • With Master’s degree, 3–5 years related experience (as above)
  • Familiarity with multimedia techniques
  • Some prior project leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Bilingual (English & Spanish) Required
  • Knowledge and experience, 3- 5 years working with RI systems such as RI BrightStars Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS), RI Workforce Knowledge and Competencies (WKCs), RI Department of Human Services Child Care Licensing, and other child care agencies/systems as applicable.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends
