The Zero Suicide Institute (ZSI) in the U.S. Division has an opening for a ZSI Multimedia Specialist [Training & Technical  Assistance Specialist (II)] reporting to the ZSI Manager.  The position will be based in Waltham, MA, Washington D.C., or remotely from the employee’s home office.

The EDC U.S. Division includes grants and projects in the areas of suicide, substance use disorders, healthcare, and violence and injury prevention. Through this work, EDC provides state and local officials, grantees, policymakers, interested stakeholders and the general public with assistance in developing, implementing and evaluating programs and strategies to prevent injury, violence and suicide.

The ZSI Multimedia Specialist [Training & Technical  Assistance Specialist (II)] will support the online deliver of ZSI events, trainings and consultation related to the Zero Suicide model and suicide safer care. While the reach and application of the Zero Suicide model continues to evolve, ZSI currently supports a wide range of health and behavioral settings – including hospitals and integrated delivery networks, community mental health centers, federally-qualified health centers, primary care - as well as health plans, state and tribal governments, and federal agencies. The ideal candidate, therefore, understands the audience needs of learning in an online live environment, and can support adult e-based learning initiatives. The person in this position will also contribute to developing new instruction techniques and online learning opportunities to support the adoption of the Zero Suicide framework.  The individual will join a rapidly growing team who have both unique areas of expertise and are flexible and skilled at providing support to a variety of groups.                                                         

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The ZSI Multimedia Specialist [Training & Technical  Assistance Specialist (II)] will work with the ZSI Project Leads and Administrative Coordinators to produce and execute the live online learning events. 

Receiving limited instruction on routine work and specific instruction on new assignments, the ZSI Multimedia Specialist [Training & Technical Assistance Specialist (II)] participates in moderately complex projects to provide professional development training and technical assistance, including:

• Research, with understanding of content area
• Researches, develops, installs, and may operate and troubleshoot audio-visual systems, such as video conferencing, digital media and desktop and network-based technologies.
• Drafting, revising
• Product testing & evaluation
• Provide expertise and support for the design of AV-equipped spaces, the evaluation of new technology, the development of new services, and the improvement of existing services.
• Documenting & cataloguing
• Maintaining records
• Disseminating information
• Mastering facilitation of adult learning and web-based learning
• Provides presentation support for academic and public events. Capable of planning, testing, and executing an AV design in support of a live event. Support projects and multimedia activities, including recording courses, digitizing materials, and editing.
• Advises on media alternatives; may oversee the work of and train other audio-visual technicians.
• Professional and patient customer service attitude, understand customer needs quickly and explain technical topics to a non-technical audience
• Applies experience and skills to support the planning, development and execution of online productions with moderate supervision

The Training & Technical Assistance Specialist (II)

• Contributes to building knowledge and capacity of organizations and staff
• Facilitates project teamwork; engages collaboratively in feedback
• Assists with quality assurance
• Provides logistical support
• Assists with troubleshooting
• May provide direction to professional & support staff

This position requires educational achievement; excellent writing skills; demonstrable initiative, creativity, and flexibility; ability to work independently and effectively in groups; and strong interpersonal & organizational skills. Specific requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training and education in a related field required
• Master’s degree or equivalent combination of training and education in a related field preferred
• 3–5 years related experience in the disciplinary area, social science or public health research, teaching, training, curriculum design, consulting or administrative management, including experience with computer applications, instructional design, and Internet research
