The Human Resources Department has an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources Generalist II, reporting to the Senior Human Resources Manager, at EDC headquarters in Waltham, Massachusetts.                                                   

The Human Resources Generalist II supports the development, delivery and coordination of human resource services and manages the implementation of human resource programs and initiatives in assigned domestic and/or international EDC offices. The Generalist plays a key role in EDC’s HR strategy and service delivery by partnering closely and collaboratively with all functional areas of the organization.  We are looking for a Generalist who is outstanding at relationship building, cross functional communications, a conceptual thinker with fantastic problem solving and conflict management skills.

The successful candidate will exhibit strong decision-making skills and have experience with employee relations, talent acquisition, compliance, and leveraging social media to attract great talent and provide an interactive platform for our current staff.  They will be comfortable managing grey areas and effective at creating and introducing processes and technology solutions in order to streamline and strengthen HR’s ability to be an agile partner to the organization.

Job Description

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The person in this position is expected to communicate clearly and courteously; to develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, collaborators, co-workers, field sites, and funders; and to work respectfully with EDC colleagues. The job requires adherence to EDC policies & procedures.

Generalist Responsibilities:

The Human Resources Generalist II, under the guidance of the Senior Human Resources Manager,

·        Provides logistical support in the areas of performance management, employee relations, compliance and HR best practices

·        Assists with performance evaluations and decisions affecting continuation of employment; helps to ensure that performance issues are dealt with in a timely and appropriate fashion and that individual performance assessments are calibrated with departmental and organizational results

·        Collaborates on all employment related compliance initiatives (EEO, AA, etc.)

·        Ensures that accurate job descriptions are maintained

·        Advises HR management team on matters affecting employee relations, productivity, development, regulatory compliance, and fairness in employment

·        Assesses priorities competently, manages a variety of activities simultaneously and professionally

·        Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings & seminars

·        May handle employee relations counseling, investigations, and exit interviews, under the guidance of other HR staff

·        Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department

·        Assists with implementation of new or revised HR policies

Talent Acquisition Responsibilities:

·        Acts as main point of contact for all targeted recruitment efforts that involve social media

·        Liaise with the Communications department on leveraging EDC’s social media platforms (LinkedIn, Glassdoor, Twitter, etc.) to raise EDC’s visibility with the goal of attracting top talent, drive traffic to our job postings and provide an interactive way to communicate with our current employees, a lot of whom are remote.

·        Works collaboratively across departments and teams to align our employer brand with our “One EDC” initiative

·        Partners closely with internal diversity committee and track targeted recruitment efforts progress against stated diversity initiative goals

·        Advises HR management team on matters affecting talent acquisition efforts, related regulatory compliance and fairness in employment

·        Partner with talent coordinator on ensuring that EDC’s ATS system is aligned and in support of targeted recruitment efforts

The Human Resources Generalist II

·        Is knowledgeable about all HR processes and requirements; maintains currency in compliance requirements

·        Uses formal and informal training opportunities well

·        Works to create an effective employee relations environment to achieve business objective of outstanding client service and excellence

·        Helps build employee engagement by emphasizing company culture, values, and benefits of workforce diversity

·        Takes leadership role in diversity work

·        Interacts effectively with diverse staff with competing priorities

·        Influences decision-makers

·        Confers with management staff and project teams to evaluate administrative support requirements

·        Facilitates teamwork; engages collaboratively in feedback

·        Coordinates issue clarification; troubleshoots problems, ensuring coordination between parties, and negotiates solutions

·        May train support staff

·        May travel, domestically and internationally

·        Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires educational achievement; excellent writing skills; demonstrable initiative, creativity, and flexibility; ability to work independently and effectively in groups; and strong interpersonal & organizational skills. Specific requirements:

·        Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of training & education

·        At least 6 years related Human Resources experience, including a strong background in employee relations. 

·        Solid experience in Microsoft Office Suite, HRIS systems, and reporting features.

·        Client service orientation and well-honed business partnering skills

·        Ability to exercise sound judgment and excellent communications skills, and to work well under pressure, take initiative, be flexible, be diplomatic, and handle highly confidential information appropriately 

·        Solid knowledge of human resources policies and procedures, and their application in the day-to-day working environment

·        Strong organizational & analytical skills and aptitude for details

·        Experience leveraging social media tools for employer branding and visibility and using metrics to measure success

·        Working knowledge of recruitment best practices and processes

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

·        2–3 years international HR experience

·        Fluency in second language 

·        Knowledge of USAID policies and regulations

·        Experience with Boolean search methodology

·        Kronos and Smart Recruiter experience
