Job Description

The TEACH FOR TOMORROW activity’s overall goal is to support improved teaching of the reformed curricula at the primary level by qualified, incentivized, and continuously developed teachers; and furthermore, to institutionalize a Continuous Professional Development system that adapts to Egyptian educators’ evolving professional development needs.

Position Description

The Technical Advisor works in collaboration with the COP and the DCOP, to coordinate all activities with technical approach related to improving in-service teachers’ professional development, designing a continuous professional support system for teachers that is backed with technology and innovation, and revamping the teachers’ licensure and certification system at MOETE.

The Technical Advisor is also responsible for sharing new knowledge/evidence and international best practices related to education system reform, in-service teacher education and incentivization. The Technical Advisor will support/guide the team of technical experts to design the necessary professional development packages, course design, and systemic and institutional reform. S/he is also expected to provide technical advice based upon expertise and knowledge of evidence-based methods and strategies, current practice, and established research standards to ensure quality and rigorous design.

Qualifications

The candidate for the position of Technical Advisor shall have at a minimum the following qualifications:

Education:

A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Public Policy, International Development or a relevant field from a nationally or internationally recognized university; Masters’ degree is preferred.

Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of ten years (eight years with a Master’s degree) of professional experience in the successful development and implementation of educational reform and professional development programs for educators at the pre-university level;
  • Strong knowledge in international best practices for teacher certification and licensure systems;
  • Specific experience in teacher training and mentoring, ideally having used innovation and technology to support these areas;
  • Proven experience in mentorship and staff capacity building; and
  • Experience in Egypt and knowledge of existing teacher professional development systems. 

Language:

Fluency in Arabic is required.   Proficiency in English is desired.
