Job Description

The Catering Manager generates and manages the catering business for an Eataly location. Reports to the General Manager of Private Sales and oversees the catering team members.

  • Manages the Catering Team: hires, schedules, trains, motivates and disciplines as necessary
  • Negotiates executive partnerships to sell catering packages for breakfast, lunch, dinner and largescale events
  • Manages all catering events from start to finish: books, plans and executes functions
  • Creates proposals, contracts, event orders and packages tailored to each client’s requests
  • Develops and maintains a partnership with Eataly’s internal divisions: Restaurants, Retail and Quick Service
  • Executes all off-site catering for offices and VIP clients, coordinating delivery services and pickup business
  • Prepares, manages and reconciles budgets, adhering to departmental policies on budget forms and process
  • Compiles reports of operating statements and operational budgets
  • Analyzes financial data and develops a strategy focused on greatest areas of opportunity
  • Works catering events and provides formal feedback following the completion of events
  • Reviews the collection of receivables
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing or related field preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in catering/sales management
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices within Catering Sales and Food & Beverage
  • Excellent communication skills, specifically the ability to negotiate
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm in a fluid, high-stress environment

Job Requirements

  • Availability to work a flexible scheduling often including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to exert well-paced mobility for up to 8 hours, including standing, walking, bending and squatting
