Job Description

The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for daily patient care including processing prescriptions, inspecting completed prescriptions prior to shipment, patient counseling and prospective and concurrent Drug Use Review.  Additionally, the Staff Pharmacist monitors patient adherence to the medication regimen and regularly assesses the impact of prescribed therapy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Our employees are tasked with delivering excellent business results through the efforts of their teams. These results are achieved by:

  • Patient care and education including comprehensive patient counseling.
  • Medication therapy evaluation and drug use review, including reporting adverse drug events.
  • Routine patient touches to review and document adherence (compliance) and persistence and to assess the impact of prescribed therapy.
  • Process and verify patient prescriptions.
  • Counsel patients to prepare and to motivate adherence to pharmacotherapeutic regimens.
  • Evaluate drug use including prospective and concurrent drug use review.
  • Evaluate lab values and clinically available patient history including concomitant medications, allergies, and disease states.
  • Educate, coach and supervise pharmacy technicians.
  • Monitor REMS adherence and documentation standards as required.
  • Manage patient adverse events including reporting and reconciliation.
  • Resolve and document all after hours inquiries from patients and prescribers including occasional emergency dispensing and shipping.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships and promote satisfaction with coworkers, patients and clients.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

The requirements listed below are representative of the experience, education, knowledge, skill and/or abilities required.

  • PharmD and B.S. Rph
  • Two years pharmacy practice experience.
  • Current, unrestricted and undisciplined Missouri pharmacist license.
  • Microsoft Office competent, basic phone system operation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Five years pharmacy practice with an emphasis in specialty pharmacy or home infusion.
  • Residency a plus.
  • Management and/or Pharmacist in Charge experience helpful.
  • BCPS, MTM, multi-state pharmacist licensure.
  • Experience with multiple Patient Management and Dispensing Systems.

Office: While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is frequently required to reach, grasp, stand and/or sit for long periods of time (up to 90% of the shift), walk, talk and hear; occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet, with frequent interruptions and multiple demands.
