Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Our employees are tasked with delivering excellent business results through the efforts of their teams.  These results are achieved by:

  • Ensure the close out & dispatch of all shipments through the Ops Team and Directly
  • Ensure all international shipments have international documents, including the collection of Shipper’s Export Declarations. File EEI when applicable.
  • Identify International Shipments as a priority for all outbound shipping
  • Create Hazmat documents and ensure proper labeling by all parties
  • Daily review of carrier equipment needs and door assignments while engaging daily with all carriers
  • Communicate with carriers for swaps / live loads
  • Review all internal / external documentation requests for LTL / TL shipments, including carrier tracking or pro number updates as required
  • Ensure that all outbound cold chain orders each have a printed packing list for purposes of scheduling the required carrier
  • Ensure proper trailer temperature set points for all cold chain shipments and the required temperature is noted on the bill of lading and/or manifest
  • Reconcile open orders report with outbound / staged freight throughout the day with the Ops Team in the assigned building
  • Manage any Mode conversions
  • Communicate with Transportation & Ops teams regarding any staged freight, Express runs and city runs
  • Ensure operations are correctly loading onto every trailer through direct validation of laod
  • Manage communications where advanced shipment notice details are required
  • Work Group Leadership and Supervisory Backup
  • Directing, instructing, guiding, and training the staff.
  • Problem Solving and Continuous Process Improvement
  • The position will be involved with issues and problems that result from the loading function; solid problem-solving skills are required.
  • Oversee loading of outbound trailers to include pallet count validation and proper chain-of-custody transfer
  • Ensure that the loading area is safe and that carriers adhere to all safety requirements
  • Ensure that all internal and external shipping requests are acknowledged and addressed
  • Ensure proper load securement and close-out of all trailers
  • Effectively communicate with all internal departments, clients, and carriers as needed to ensure proper handling of shipments
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

The requirements listed below are representative of the experience, education, knowledge, skill and/or abilities required.

  • Education (High School Diploma)
  • Experience and/or Training Background in operations and knowledge of the transportation industry and Mercury Gate or TMS as a user)
  • Licenses/Certificates HAZMAT
  • Technology/Equipment (TMS, Auditing tools, Ability to develop reporting, analytics, Microsoft Office Suites medium level)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education (Bachelor’s Degree)
  • Experience and/or Training (Background in Transportation and Distribution)
  • Licenses/Certificates (Degree in Supply Chain or Finance APICS CSCP)
  • Technology/Equipment (Microsoft Office Suite of Services, Power BI User Level )
