Job Description

THE POSITION:  

The Executive Director of Market Access & Patient Services is a highly visible position that requires a subject matter expert that can drive confidence with the partner in all areas of market access, pricing models and reimbursement for a global launch of a novel therapeutic for Alzheimer’s Disease. The successful candidate will be responsible for partnering with the business units to establish and execute the US Market Access Strategy (value strategy, coverage and reimbursement strategy, pricing, contracting and affordability strategy and the integrated dispensing and support services strategy). This includes working cross-functionally within the Commercial Program Team (EVERSANA and Partner) to develop and deliver on the strategic and tactical plan including coordination with the field-based teams responsible for implementing the strategy with key national and regional accounts.  This role will also have oversight of defining the support services patients need to initiate and maintain treatment to ensure the best possible chance for a positive outcome.

Each Director of Market Access & Patient Services will be assigned to one or two Commercial Programs and will take their lead from the responsible Chief Commercial Officer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Our employees are tasked with delivering excellent business results through the efforts of their teams.  These results are achieved by:

  • Possess a deep understanding of the biopharmaceutical market trends.
  • Under the guidance of the Chief Commercial Officer, the Director of Market Access & Patient Services will guide the development of U.S. market access strategy in context of the overall brand and launch strategy
  • Act as the central point person to coordinate and direct all activities within the BUs (Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, Patient Support Services, Medical Affairs, Value & Evidence, Legal and Compliance) critical to the success of the complete commercialization program
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the product portfolio, pipeline, and competitive products
  • Ensure access to product across all customer stakeholders is sufficient to deliver the U.S. brand revenue forecast
  • Shape a differentiated value strategy (including pricing and contracting) that anticipates competitive responses, identifies current market trends and maximizes brand growth and profitability   
  • Comfortable interacting with high senior level executives, regularly present business updates to senior management and to the partner leadership team 
  • Maintain a high level of awareness of public and private formulary contracting trends, utilization controls, benefit structures, reimbursement mechanisms, legal and regulatory influences, health management programs and product distribution knowledge to accomplish objectives
  • Partner with Marketing and the Patient Services Team to deliver simple and seamless access to the brand for patients and providers and a positive patient experience based on the patient journey
  • Collaborate with Pharmacy Operations and Supply Chain to define the distribution model, key performance indicators, and to evaluate channel performance including contract compliance and budget management
  • Partner with customer facing teams to set key performance indicators and to execute on the market access strategy including formulary status, revenue, margin, market share, price and pull-through
  • Able to hold individual BUs accountable to meeting committed timelines and deliverables
  • Provide technical expertise to support contract negotiation, implementation, and ongoing optimization of distribution model
  • Work closely with IT and Business Analytics functions supporting the integration of distribution data sets to evaluate the commercialization process and performance
  • Demonstrate a high level of financial acumen and negotiations skills
  • Deliver corporate vision and value message at key conferences.
  • All other duties as assigned

People leaders must possess both the skills to effectively accomplish these tasks and the emotional intelligence to do so in alignment with our cultural values.  In addition to the critical management and leadership tasks listed above, this role also includes the following unique responsibilities:

  •  Responsible for and oversee their respective integrated workstreams. Drive a performance-based culture within the program team and the partner (client).
  • Determine project commercialization objectives, align project needs with business units and partner.  
  • Review performance relative to program project discussion appraisal, authorize project spend to budget and lead project to sales goal attainment.
  • Collaborate with COMPLETE Commercial team to drive the recruitment and retention of top talent for the program (as needed)

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

The requirements listed below are representative of the experience, education, knowledge, skill and/or abilities required.

  • Education – BS/BA Required
  • Experience and/or Training
    • Minimum 10 years relevant US market access and patient services experience
    • Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills
    • Neuroscience, Chronic care commercialization experience a must. Alzheimer’s Disease commercialization experience a plus.
    • Proven track record launching chronic disease treatments
    • Ability to work well within all levels of the organization.

    • Thrive in a fast-paced environment where multiple tasks are being managed at a given time
    • Ability to make decisions that will drive the program forward without needing
    • Ability to build and coach teams
    • Ability to analyze cost-benefit scenarios and negotiate contract and vendor agreements

    • Attention to detail in analyses, deliverables and communications.
    • Strong presentation and communication skills; must be able to provide succinct, strategic, and actionable insights to senior executives.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills. 
    • Ability to juggle multiple projects  
  • Technology/Equipment:  Strong knowledge of Microsoft suite of applications.

Qualifications

  • Education – MBA preferred
  • Experience and/or Training – New product launch experience, knowledge of FDA marketing compliance, PhRMA Guidelines and the Sunshine Act preferred
