Job Summary
We are looking to hire a Finance and Accounting Manager to analyze market trends and various business opportunities from a financial perspective. To excel in this role, you should have an analytical mind and a keen understanding of how a business works in the real world not just on paper.
The Finance and Accounting Manager will be responsible for creating financial, auditing, budgeting, and accounting analysis and reports and creating plans and strategies for the long-term financial benefit of the business.
Functions and Responsibilities
- Performs financial management duties including generating financial data, compiling and submitting reports, analyzing industry trends, and assessing the financial health of the company.
- Directs and participates in the maintenance and analysis of accounting records, general and subsidiary ledgers, balance sheet accounts, and budgets.
- Oversees the operations and development of the company’s finance department including creating and reviewing policies, accounting, budgeting, recruiting, training, and conducting regular assessments of financial procedures.
- Works closely with Reservations, Account, and Revenue Management teams and monitors and informs pending Account Receivable / Balances.
- Contributes to the gathering, managing, and keeping clients’ sensitive details such as bank details, properties’ inventory pricing arrangements, and other financial records.
- Oversees and executes invoicing, online payment links, and collections.
- Coordinates and participates in the preparation of internal and external audit materials and serves as the liaison to the operational teams on a frequent basis.
- Reviews and submits budget proposals or recommendations for approval or rejection of funding requests.
- Conducts regular third-party providers’ invoices, as well as cost/benefit and other types of analyses.
- Contributes to completing RFI, RFQ, RFP, and RFS as needed and manages correctly scheduled payments with them all.
- Collaborates with managers to develop final consolidated budget.
- Oversees expenditure and identifies trends in spending.
- Prepares forecasts for future budget needs.
- Supervises the documentation of the company’s financial status and forecasts.
- Suggests improvements to increase profits (i.e., spending cuts).
- Advises colleagues and executive management on decisions related to the company’s finances.
- Supervises and participates in the preparation of various financial statements and reports across multiple information sources (i.e., Financial sheets, PMS, OTAs, Channel Managers, etc.). Reviews financial statements with management personnel and answers inquiries regarding information.
- Supervises the preparation of quarterly and annual account reconciliations, monitor and enforce compliance with tax and financial reporting standards and assist with cash flow forecasting.
- Creates strategic business plans based on the analysis of the company’s status and financial forecasts.
- Attends relevant industry webinars while tracking relevant info from both PMS and Channel Manager providers, and periodically researches other convenient info sources.
Qualifications
Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills
- Experience with Travel, Hospitality, and Vacation Rentals Industry (desired).
- 3+ years experience in accounting, financial planning, and analysis, or business administration.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance. Audit certification (desired).
- Strong Microsoft Excel experience/skills.
- Excellent ability to solve problems along with solid analytical skills, understanding of the business process, and systems optimization.
- Experienced with financial controversies, wrongly charged commissions or balances, incorrect currency rates, etc. (desired).
- Comfortable interacting with all levels of management in multiple areas.
- Strong knowledge/experience with accounts receivable, accounts payable, and financial reporting.
- Desired Vendors Management experience.
- Functional experience with commission-based financial models.
- Desired experience with PayPal, Stripe, Wise.com, Payoneer, and Binance.
- Strong PC literacy with solid skills in Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace, as well as communication tools such as WhatsApp, Skype, Zoom, Google Meet, etc.
- Ability to find solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity, referring to a group of companies’ policies and practices for guidance.
- Organized and able to create multiple timelines, budgets, and schedules.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English, both written and spoken.
- Own Personal Computer and/or Laptop.
- Good Internet Infrastructure and Connectivity.
