Job Description
The Audio Systems Technician supports the design, programming, testing, commissioning,
and optimization of audio systems while developing the technical audio and integration
related skills. This role provides hands-on experience with DSP platforms, audio
troubleshooting, system commissioning, documentation, and field support, building
toward ownership of audio programming, tuning, commissioning and audio standards
Core Accountabilities:
- Stage, configure, and test audio equipment prior to deployment
- Create, Load and validate approved DSP configurations, and create and maintain backups of audio system files
- Perform microphone, loudspeaker, amplifier, and DSP testing
- Support audio system commissioning and performance verification
- Troubleshoot audio-related issues in staging, field, and service environments.
- Coordinate with Field, Programming, and Engineering teams to resolve audio-related installation issues, and support field technicians during installation and startup
- Assist with system acceptance testing and client demonstrations
- Verify installations and received equipment meet project requirements and company standards, reporting discrepancies or deficiencies
- Document commissioning results, system changes, and technical findings for the team
- Maintain audio test equipment, tools, and technical assets
- Support warranty, service, and managed services activities related to audio systems
- Follow ET standards and manufacturer recommendations in all audio work
- Log daily individual time billing
Developmental Responsibilities
- Develop proficiency with DSP programming platforms and audio processing concepts, progressing to building and modifying DSP files.
- Learn audio signal flow, gain structure, and system architecture, and interpret AV drawings, signal flow diagrams, and schematics
- Build foundational understanding of room acoustics, speech intelligibility, and microphone selection, placement, and coverage
- Develop audio tuning and optimization skills for meeting spaces and larger
- environments
- Develop a structured troubleshooting methodology and learn to use audio measurement and diagnostic tools effectively
- Assist in creating and evolving company audio standards, commissioning processes, and best practices
- Complete manufacturer training and relevant industry certifications
- Grow familiarity with UC audio workflows and networked audio (AV-over-IP, Dante) technologies
- Participate in technical knowledge sharing and mentorship opportunities
- Progress toward independently commissioning and supporting standard audio systems, developing the competencies required to advance into the Audio Specialist role
- As project and business needs evolve, support the broader team by applying and expanding skills beyond core responsibilities
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Audio Engineering, Audio production or a related
discipline is preferred. - Minimum 2 years working with professional audio systems.

**Considerations**

Additional Information
Eligibility for advancement to Audio Specialist is achieved through independently
creating and optimizing DSP programming files, owning audio tuning and
commissioning, and resolving complex acoustic, echo cancellation, and
performance issues without escalation.

- Annual salary range: $65,000 - $80,000 CAD per year.
