Job Description

POSITION IDENTIFICATION: 

Reports to: Operations Manager

POSITION PURPOSE AND SUMMARY:

The Paramedic (“employee”) will perform duties associated with providing ALS medical care to the sick and injured in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations and EMS Unlimited policies. This position will work with the United State Military on standby for students attending parachute jump training. 

COMPENSATION:

$27.50-32.00/hr depending on experience and certifications

SCHEDULE:

Work hours will vary depending on training schedules. Typical work day's will begin just prior to sunrise. The employee will always be paid for a minimum of 10 hours for each work day. Place of work will be Sawtooth airport near Eloy, AZ. Work day's will begin between 0430-0630 and complete prior to noon. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The employee must possess and apply knowledge and skills necessary to perform the duties of an Paramedic, in a dignified and compassionate manner, including but not limited to:

    • Must be capable of performing all duties autonomously and in the austere. It is not uncommon for EMS Unlimited staff to be staged at assigned locations where they are the sole medical provider;

    • Responding to emergency and non-emergency requests calmly, efficiently and promptly;

    • Administering basic and advanced life support to patients at the scene, in a prehospital/pre-transport setting in accordance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations and standards;

    • Assessing the nature and extent of injury or illness to establish and prioritize medical procedures to be followed;

    • Maintaining order at scenes, including crowd disbursement and restraint of family and friends; 

    • Completing patient care forms, insurance forms, evaluation forms, and all other forms in a competent and timely fashion;

    • Conducting medical equipment inventory;

    • Cleaning, organizing and restocking supplies in a ready condition after each use.

    • Maintaining accurate records of request for emergent and non-emergent first aid and medical care. Properly document each customer/patient interaction on the approved Patient Care Report in accordance with policies and procedures;

    • Handling radio communications professionally and efficiently with careful regard to the divulgence of information respecting confidentiality requests at all times;

    • Work cooperatively with assisting agencies. This may include, but is not limited to; Instructional Staff, students, security teams, EMS Transport agencies, air medical helicopters and crew. Be nice, professional, courteous and an all around happy and pleasant person. 

    • Triage ill and injured patients to determine the most appropriate method of treatment and transport.

  • The employee must perform all job responsibilities in a manner that protects patient privacy:

    • The employee is expected to protect the privacy of all patient information in accordance with EMS Unlimited Privacy Policies, procedures, and practices, as required by federal (and state) law, and in accordance with general principles of professionalism as a healthcare provider. Failure to comply with policies and procedures on patient privacy may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination or employment.

    • The employee may access protected health information and other patient information only to the extent that is necessary to complete your job duties. The employee may only share such information with those you have a need to know specific patient information you have in your possession to complete their job responsibilities related to treatment, payment or other company operations.

    • The employee is encouraged and expected to report, without the threat of retaliation, any concerns regarding policies and procedures on patient privacy and any observed practices in violation of that policy to the designated Privacy Officer.

    • The employee is expected to actively participate in Company privacy training and is required to communicate privacy policy information to co-workers, students, patients and others in accordance with Company Policy.

Qualifications

Education & Experience Requirements

  • The employee must have a minimum of either a high school diploma or a GED as evidence of completion of a high school education, and must have and maintain a current state healthcare license at the level for which hired. 

  • 2 years of ALS 911 field EMS experience is required. 

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

  • The employee must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, current state Paramedic, RN certification and CPR.
  • FEMA ICS training 100 and 700 is required
  • Additional certifications preferred: PHTLS, TCCC, ATLS, PALS, EPC, AMLS, Hazmat, Wilderness
