Job Description

As a Credit Administrator, you will be responsible for credit application evaluation, approval, and administration of customer accounts. In addition, you will be responsible for the collection of funds while maintaining healthy profitable customer relationships all within an acceptable level of risk.

Additional duties will include:

  • Review new customer applications, determine credit risk, and open accounts
  • Set credit limits for both existing and new customers collaboratively with Profit Centre Managers and Credit Managers when required
  • Inform Profit Centre Managers when there is a change in a customer’s business that might have a negative impact on their credit
  • Collect on accounts while maintaining healthy profitable customer relationships
  • Partner with sales team to create plans for higher risk accounts
  • Investigate and resolve customer disputes; address short payments in a timely fashion that exceeds the customers’ expectations and benefits of the Profit Centre
  • Maintain detailed notes in the computer system for each account
  • Prepare delinquent accounts for third party collections, bad debt reserves and write offs
  • Obtain proper documentation including personal guarantees and letters of credit
  • Perform other tasks as requested by the Credit Manager

Qualifications

  • College and/or University degree – preferably in a finance or business-related field of study
  • Acquired or working towards the Certified Credit Professional designation
  • A minimum of 3 years credit or finance experience
  • Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills and sound business judgment
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to reconcile accounts
  • Able to handle multiple open files and prioritize work
  • Thorough understanding and interpretation of credit bureau reporting
  • Ability to learn and operate the applicable software system used to process orders

Preferred Skills:

  • Previous experience with or knowledge of plumbing and building products sold at the Profit Centre
  • Knowledge of the construction industry
  • Experience using Trend and Eclipse
