Job Description

Salary Range - $45,000 - $60,000 + Bonuses

The Strategic Development Program (SDP) is a full-time entry level position, where you will learn hands-on and receive the guidance, mentoring, and support you need to be successful in your career at EMCO. The ideal candidate is someone that takes ownership of working in a warehouse environment for the first 1 to 2 years. You need to be hard working, great with people and able to work collaboratively in a team environment. The manager in Lethbridge is committed and interested in investing in you – teaching you the business and the industry from the ground up. You will learn from existing teammates who are excited to share their knowledge, and help you learn and acquire the skills you will need to progress in your development.

Whether you see yourself in sales, management, operations or customer service, the Strategic Development Program will prepare you to create your ideal career. Successful graduates of the program have continued their careers with EMCO in various positions such as Senior Account Managers, Technical Sales Specialists, Purchasers, Operations Managers and more!

Development Plan, Responsibilities and Duties:

Phase 1 – Warehouse Logistics – You will learn the products we sell and how they get from the vendor to the customer and actively participate in the warehouse logistics role to understand and provide sales support.

Phase 2 – Operations – You will actively get involved and learn our front-line customer service, counter sales, order management, inventory and pricing controls, credit management, financial statements, and more…

Phase 3 – Inside Sales/Project Management – Over time you will go from helping customers with various customer service issues to managing large-scale, time sensitive projects.

Phase 4 – Outside Sales/Account Management – You will learn how to find new business opportunities, sell our products, negotiate contracts, and build customer and vendor relationships.

Phase 5  In this phase, you can take all of your training and determine your ideal career path.

Job Duties

  1. Shipping and receiving of material in warehouse
  2. Continued monitoring of inventory, ensuring physical counts match up with system inventory numbers
  3. Responsible for creating marketing and sales strategies that targets new and existing customers to secure profitable sales.
  4. Analyze customer data, develop and execute strategies to profitably grow market share while meeting and exceeding GP $ and % targets set at the PC.
  5. Enter sales orders generated from Profit Centre customers via fax, phone, and emails
  6. Identify customer needs, provide profitable solutions and close the sales
  7. Grow and retain an established customer base and develop new business for the Profit Centre
  8. Lead and own the sales process through prospecting for new clients, producing sales call reports, territory planning, and growth targets
  9. Support Counter Sales and Outside Sales activities as part of the team
  10. Create strong, lasting, and trustworthy customer relationships to generate and close profitable sales
  11. Understand and follow all safety regulations at all customer locations as well as at the Profit Centre.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Outstanding customer service and verbal communication skills
  • Positive and outgoing attitude
  • Self-starter and highly motivated with a strong work ethic
  • Excellent relationship building skills with customers, vendors and teammates
  • Able to learn and operate the applicable software system (Infor M3) used to process orders
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment while handling multiple tasks
  • Willing to invest a minimum of 40 hours in training annually
  • Able to learn how to operate material handling equipment
  • Read, write, speak and understand English

Education and Experience

  • Post Secondary Education preferred
  • Knowledge of products sold at the Profit Centre – Preferred but not required
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience in a customer service role
  • Proficiency in technology: computers, mobile communications, Microsoft and Windows software
