"My placement supporting the HPC project has been both challenging and rewarding. Through collaborating with suppliers, project managers and stakeholders across the business, I've developed valuable commercial, analytical and communication skills while contributing to a programme of national importance. The experience has not only accelerated my professional development but has also confirmed that this is the career path I want to pursue, making HPC an exciting and fulfilling place to learn and grow.” Rayna, Commercial Team Industrial Placement.
The Opportunity
This Equipment (Supply Chain) Industrial Placement is expected to begin in early September 2027 and offers a starting salary of £26,050, with the opportunity to support one of the UK's largest infrastructure and energy projects.
During this 12-month placement, you'll gain hands-on experience in contract management, supplier engagement and strategic procurement. Working alongside experienced professionals, you'll develop commercial, analytical and stakeholder management skills while contributing to a business that's driving the transition towards An Electric Britain.
What You’ll Experience
Being part of Hinkley Point C means helping to shape the future of low-carbon energy. You'll contribute to a project that will provide clean electricity for millions of homes while supporting the UK's energy security.
During your Equipment (Supply Chain Directorate) Industrial Placement, you'll join a collaborative team supporting major procurement and supply chain activities. You'll gain valuable experience working with suppliers, project managers and stakeholders while developing commercial awareness and practical business skills.
You'll contribute to supplier performance monitoring, contract management activities, governance processes and commercial reporting. You'll help analyse data, assess supplier performance, support the use of commercial management tools such as CEMAR and SAP, and assist with the preparation of reports and board papers, while gaining insight into the delivery of a complex infrastructure programme.
Your Work Location
Depending on your skill set and development ambitions, you'll be based at #Bristol (Aztec West), with occasional visits to #HinkleyPointC (transport to the Hinkley Point C site is provided from several collection points) to support project activities and stakeholder engagement.
This on-site placement provides valuable exposure to both the corporate and operational sides of a major energy project, helping you build relationships across a wide range of teams and suppliers.
Who You Are
To be eligible for this EDF Industrial Placement, you need to be studying towards, or have already achieved, a bachelor's or postgraduate degree in Business, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Geography, Science, Supply Chain and Logistics, or a closely related discipline. You'll have an interest in commercial management, procurement and supply chain delivery.
To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.
Pay, Benefits and Culture
Alongside a starting salary of £26,050 per annum and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include customisable benefits such as electric vehicle leasing, discounted gym membership, life assurance, tech vouchers, experience days, and more.
