Job Description
Ready to help shape the safety cases that underpin the UK’s nuclear future? Keen to contribute to one of the world’s most exciting energy projects or support the safe operation of our existing fleet? At EDF, Success is Personal – and with us, your career journey is yours to shape.
The Opportunity
As a Safety Case Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in supporting either our new-build Hinkley Point C project or our existing nuclear fleet. You’ll help develop or maintain the safety cases that ensure safe operations, drive innovation, and support Britain’s journey to net zero.
You’ll join us on a salary starting from £60,000 per annum. Located at #Gloucester Business Park 2–3 days a week, we’re happy to discuss flexibility.
Whether you’re supporting the development of a modern safety case for the UK’s first new-build nuclear power station in decades, or helping optimise and extend the life of our existing fleet, you’ll be part of a team making a real impact. You’ll gain exposure to reactor and fuel route safety cases, defueling challenges, and contribute to the UK’s energy and environmental ambitions.
Who You Are
We’re looking for a Safety Case Engineer who thrives in dynamic, high-profile environments and enjoys solving complex technical challenges. Do you offer…
- Strong experience writing, evaluating or reviewing nuclear safety cases
- A solid technical understanding of safety case principles and applications
- The ability to work across disciplines and communicate clearly and concisely
- Experience in reactor or fuel route safety case areas, including hazards, structural integrity or mechanical plant
- A minimum of an HNC (or equivalent) in Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or a similar technical discipline
To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Developing and maintaining safety cases for new-build or operational nuclear sites
- Providing technical leadership to resolve safety-related challenges
- Collaborating with internal teams, OEM designers, suppliers and regulators
- Supporting construction, commissioning or defueling phases
- Ensuring compliance within a regulated environment
Pay, Benefits and Culture
Alongside a starting salary of at least £60,000 per annum, potential for an annual bonus, and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include customisable benefits such as electric vehicle leasing, discounted gym membership, life assurance, tech vouchers, experience days and more.
