A Different Kind of DSP Role

This is not your typical DSP or caregiving role. Dungarvin is hiring experienced Direct Support Professionals and human services professionals to join our Adult Day Program, where every day is active, engaging, and focused on helping adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities build confidence, learn new skills, and become more independent.

You will lead group activities, teach practical life skills, support community outings, provide personal care, respond to behavioral needs, and provide encouragement, coaching, and support as individuals work toward personal goals and greater independence.

Perks of the Position

• Competitive Pay: $23.50/hour
• Full Range Scale: $23.50 - $26.20 per hour. The starting rate for this position is fixed at $23.50 per hour. Pay increases occur over time and are tied to tenure/length of employment with Dungarvin.

What You'll Actually Do

• Lead creative group activities that turn everyday moments into learning experiences
• Teach and reinforce life skills that build confidence, independence, and choice-making
• Support community outings, volunteer activities, and meaningful recreational experiences
• Provide motivation, encouragement, and positive reinforcement to help persons served reach their long-term goals
• Coach and guide  individuals on social skills, communication, and positive interactions in an engaging and supportive way
• Provide personal care, including restroom, hygiene, eating, and mobility support
• Provide behavioral support and use trained de-escalation techniques when needed
• Support individuals with verbal and nonverbal communication needs
• Follow individualized service and behavior support plans
• Collaborate with supervisors, families, and team members to ensure clients receive individualized support
• Drive company vehicles for outings and community activities
• Complete electronic documentation related to goals, progress, and daily activities
• Prepare, clean, and reset program areas throughout the day

Your Experience Matters

We're looking for candidates with hands-on experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities, behavioral needs, or similar support needs. Relevant backgrounds include:  Direct Support Professional (DSP), Behavior Aide, Behavior Technician, Registered Behavior Technician (RBT),  Paraprofessional, Teacher's Aide, Respite Provider, Residential Counselor, Community Support Worker, Job Coach, Employment Specialist, Day Program Staff/Adult Day Program or similar human services experience.

What You'll Need

• At least 6 months of experience supporting adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities
• Experience in an adult day program, group home, behavioral program, or community-based setting preferred
• Hands-on experience with personal care, behavioral support, skill development, or other direct support services
• Familiarity with developmental disabilities, autism, person-centered practices, and behavior support strategies is highly desirable
• Basic computer skills and ability to learn electronic documentation systems
• Strong reading, writing, and communication skills
• Adaptable, proactive, patient, and engaged
• Compassionate, dependable, and motivated
• Teamwork and the ability to thrive in a dynamic and active work environment
• Ability to lift and transfer up to 50 lbs.
• Must be 18 years or older
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver's license and ability to drive a company van
