Personal Support Assistant/Caregivers support individuals with physical, emotional, and/or intellectual disabilities in living self-directed lives. While living in the home with those we serve, this role focuses on promoting independence, dignity, safety, and meaningful community inclusion.

The Personal Support Assistant/Caregiver also helps foster a warm, family-like atmosphere where individuals served feel valued, respected, included, and connected within their home and community. This includes building trusting relationships, encouraging shared routines and celebrations, and promoting a sense of belonging while honoring each person’s choices, boundaries, and independence.

The Personal Support Assistant/Caregiver works collaboratively with the program director and team members to help develop, implement, and evaluate participant supports. This includes reporting household, medical, maintenance, program, or personnel concerns to the appropriate supervisor or lead staff member. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Provide hands-on assistance with daily living activities, personal care needs, meal preparation, household tasks, budgeting, shopping, and community participation.

  • Encourages positive choices, supports personal goals, and advocates for each participant’s needs and preferences. 

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive living environment. 

  • Support healthcare needs, meal preparation, budgeting, shopping, and supervision as needed. 

  • Communicate participant needs, goals, and concerns to the program director or lead staff. 

  • Work cooperatively with team members to provide consistent, person-centered support.

  • Valid driver's license required (due to transporting persons served)
  • Candidates must be comfortable driving to transport persons served as required 
    • Some positions/locations may require your own personal vehicle and auto liability insurance based on the role
  • A successful background clearance is required as part of the onboarding/employment process 
  • Good communication is key in this role. You’ll rely on your reading, writing, and communication skills to document care, follow support plans, and collaborate with both internal and external team members.
