Job Description
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver Float provides direct care within residential group homes in Eugene/Springfield and will provide support to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD). This is a full time, permanent position.
This position requires a dependable candidate who is flexible in their schedule, works well independently, and has exceptional communication and decision-making skills. Float DSPs are adaptable and will have the necessary skill set to be able to work at multiple homes.
What You’ll Do
- Provide client care in a float capacity for schedules, emergencies, or fill-in assignments at designated residential homes (schedule for shifts subjected to change based on needs of programs, however schedules are given two weeks in advance.)
- Enrich and support the lives of our residents while maintaining a safe and healthy environment
- Provide companionship and personalized care with respect and dignity while encouraging independence and self-care.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, and eating.
- Prepare meals and snacks.
- Light household duties
- Provide mobility and transfer assistance, which may include using mechanical lift devices.
- Assist with transportation needs for community outings, appointments, and errands
- Implement positive behavior supports and de-escalating challenging behaviors when needed.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 1+ years of DSP/Caregiving experience with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities is required.
- Must have valid driver's license & vehicle to travel between programs and provide transportation to clients
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule (Choice of either day/swing shifts or swing/overnight shifts), including weekends
- Must be able and willing to learn different supports, from medical to behavioral
- Have a passion to help others
- Works well independently

- Excellent communication and decision-making skills
- Able to follow written and verbal instructions
- Must be able to provide references
- 18 years of age or older (required)
- Able to attend two weeks of PAID in-house orientation and training
