Job Description

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver Float provides direct care within residential group homes in Eugene/Springfield and will provide support to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD). This is a full time, permanent position. 

This position requires a dependable candidate who is flexible in their schedule, works well independently, and has exceptional communication and decision-making skills.  Float DSPs are adaptable and will have the necessary skill set to be able to work at multiple homes. 

What You’ll Do

  • Provide client care in a float capacity for schedules, emergencies, or fill-in assignments at designated residential homes (schedule for shifts subjected to change based on needs of programs, however schedules are given two weeks in advance.)
  • Enrich and support the lives of our residents while maintaining a safe and healthy environment   
  • Provide companionship and personalized care with respect and dignity while encouraging independence and self-care.   
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, and eating.   
  • Prepare meals and snacks.  
  • Light household duties 
  • Provide mobility and transfer assistance, which may include using mechanical lift devices.   
  • Assist with transportation needs for community outings, appointments, and errands 
  • Implement positive behavior supports and de-escalating challenging behaviors when needed. 
  • Other duties as assigned   

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of DSP/Caregiving experience with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities is required.
  • Must have valid driver's license & vehicle to travel between programs and provide transportation to clients 
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule (Choice of either day/swing shifts or swing/overnight shifts), including weekends 
  • Must be able and willing to learn different supports, from medical to behavioral
  • Have a passion to help others 
  • Works well independently

  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills 
  • Able to follow written and verbal instructions 
  • Must be able to provide references 
  • 18 years of age or older (required) 
  • Able to attend two weeks of PAID in-house orientation and training
