Job Description
Dungarvin is seeking a Skills Trainer who has a passion for providing supports to vulnerable youth. This position will offer the employee an opportunity to use their creativity to help individuals reach their goals. If you have worked as a paraprofessional, paraeducator, teachers aid, teachers assistant, in high school education, as a skills trainer or youth coach in the past, this position could be a great fit for you!
Responsibilities:
- Developing, implementing, and evaluating youth care and support.
- Providing direct support services which include coordinating services and scheduling with the youth, case worker, and their foster families.
- Providing skills training to youth based on their measurable goals and desired outcomes.
- Coordinating and writing programming for group-based activities monthly.
- Executing goal-based group activities with coworkers.
Qualifications
Education requirements:
- At least two years of post-secondary education centered in child/youth development or social services, or the equivalent in training and employment history.
Professional experience to include:
- At least two years of experience working with youth populations in a support, service, or coaching capacity.
- At least one year of experience working with individuals of any age experiencing I/DD and/or mental health diagnoses
- Experience developing programming and facilitating group supports.
- Experience developing or identifying community organizations and resources.
Additional Qualifications:
- A sincere desire to provide direct service to individuals with support needs.
- Proven success in engaging people with diverse needs in supports and activities.
- An ability to make sound judgments when given guidance, training and clear prioritiesz
- An ability to work as a team member to maintain consistency and quality in support services.
- A willingness to exchange constructive criticism, and ideas with other staff members.
- The ability to interact with families/providers in a professional manner.
- Valid drivers license required.
- Reliable transportation with ability to use personal vehicle for work related purposes.
