Job Description

The Program Counselor is responsible to work cooperatively with the Program Director and other staff in developing, implementing, and evaluating consumer care and programming.  The individual should follow up directly with the Program Director on any program or personnel issues within Day Program.  The individual should follow up with the Coordinator in areas related to activity, medical, or maintenance needs of the vehicles.

The Program Counselor is responsible to provide direct services to the consumers including assisting in maintaining clean, safe transportation to activities, assisting with meals, and supervising, training, and assisting the consumers in every aspect of their lives.

 

Qualifications

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED Certification and some education, training, and/or experience outside of high school in a related area.
  • Valid Driver's License 
  • A sincere desire to provide direct service to individuals with developmental disabilities,
  • The ability to make sound judgements when given guidance and priorities,
  • The ability to work as a team member to maintain consistency and quality in programming,
  • The ability to exchange support, constructive criticism, and ideas with other staff members.
  • Communicating effectively with persons served, other direct care staff, and team coordinators is a vital part of this job.  For this reason, Dungarvin requires both oral and written English language proficiency in this position.
