Job Description

The nursing assistant is responsible to work cooperatively with the supervisor and other staff in developing, implementing, and evaluating individual care and programming. This individual should follow up directly with the supervisor on any program or personnel issues within the home. He or she should follow up with the supervisor in areas related to household, medical, or maintenance needs in the home.
The nursing assistant is responsible to provide direct services to the individuals, including assisting with personal cares, assisting with health care, assisting in maintaining a clean, safe living environment, meal preparation, and supervising, training, and assisting the individuals in every aspect of their lives.

Qualifications

What We Look For:
Must have completed an approved nursing assistant training and testing program within 10 years of hire date. Must provide a certification or transcripts of curriculum taken. Certification does not have to be current but may not be revoked.
Additional qualifications in lieu of a nursing assistant certificate;

  • Have successfully completed a registered nurse (RN) or licensed practical nurse (LPN) nursing education program but who did not complete the licensing requirements through the Board of Nursing.
  • Hold a current license or previous license as an RN or LPN and was in good standing with the state’s Board of Nursing.
  • Have successfully completed a program for Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Nurse Practitioner, Medical Doctor/Physician or Physician’s Assistant and was in good standing.
  • Show evidence of being a current student in one of the above medical programs.
  • Have successfully completed a medical degree or a health program from outside of the United States that covered areas of health overview and techniques for caretaking.
  • The person must present a copy of the program certificate or course transcripts that shows the content or completion of the coursework.

Minimum requirements:

  • 18 years or older to work in residential adult programs and must be at least 21 years or older to work in child foster care homes.
  • Prefer experience working with persons with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record as determined by Dungarvin policy. (Proof of valid DL is required).
  • Current auto liability insurance.
  • Computer skills for documentation.
  • Ability to perform personal cares.

 

Additional Information

RETENTION BONUS:

The retention bonus is not applicable for current Dungarvin employees.

Hours Worked:
May be full or part-time; with a mixture of weekday and weekend hours. All persons in this position should be prepared to work weekends and holidays.
