FUN FACT:

Our founders (Husband and wife duo) Tim and Diane Madden opened the first Dungarvin program, an ICF/MR serving 15 people, in St. Paul, Minnesota, in March 1976. Tim and Diane were the live-in “houseparents” for that first program. Through the success of that program Dungarvin has grown to employ approximately 4,000 people who currently provide supports to over 4,000 individuals across 14 states.

Job Description

As the Rock County (Janesville) Residential Disabilities Director you will ensure the overall management and administration of programs/services and new development in assigned geographic area of state. This includes budget development and implementation, rate negotiation, licensing oversight, program management/quality improvement, staff development, hiring and supervision of program directors and assigned support staff, and policy/system development. All while managing risk, minimize organizational liability and ensure all reasonable measures are taken to ensure safety of individuals supported and quality service delivery.

  • Overall management, leadership and administration of designated area programs/services
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all funding sources, regulatory bodies, and families of those we serve ensuring licensing and compliance.
  • Ensure that all records are accurate, up-to-date, and are in compliance with legal and corporate requirements. 
  • Support/drive New business/program development in the assigned geographic area(s) of the state
  • Navigating, managing and leading all aspects of program/area financial performance, including budget management, contract review/adherence and rate negotiation.
  • Hire, train/coach and supervise program Directors and Managers, evaluate programs and staff performance for quality assurance and utilization. Assisting in staff/caregiver training.
  • Review and recommend policies and procedures to enhance program efficiency; Use technical and analytical tools to measure performance and productivity and to identify gaps in services.
  • Support/Lead coordination of referrals/assessments and admissions to drive census.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in human services field (Psychology, Counseling, Allied Health, Educational Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, etc.) 
  • Human services/Community-based services experience
  • Strong management experience specific to managing community-based programs and supports for adults with intellectual, developmental and physical disabilities.
  • Budget experience managing $1M+ revenues

SKILLS CRUCIAL TO SUCCESS IN THIS ROLE:

  • Knowledge and management experience with home and community-based programs and supports.  
  • Highly organized with ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience working within the field of community-based care, social work and/or working with individuals receiving supportive services in the area(s) of Mental Health, Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities, Physical Disabilities and Neurocognitive disorders
  • Financial and business acumen – ability to read financial statements and interpret data
  • Strong critical and analytical thinking skills
  • Leadership experience managing diverse personalities across multi-site locations
  • Demonstrated leadership to drive excellence through accountability, expectations and standards
  • Exceptional communication skills (written and spoken)
  • DHS 83 and DHS 88 regulatory knowledge and experience, strongly preferred

DRIVING REQUIREMENTS: 

This position is designated as an Unlimited Driving Position. Valid driver’s license and driving record, which allows candidate to be covered by agency insurance policy, required.

HOURS WORKED:

The Behavioral Area Director’s schedule must be flexible to accommodate various programs, personnel and organizational needs, including evening and weekend hours, as indicated. Typical hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday- Friday.
