Job Description

The Recovery Assistant is responsible for providing direct support assistance to enhance individuals in a community service program, including coaching, mentoring, advocacy, education, and outreach services. The Recovery Assistant provides a flexible range of supportive assistance provided face to face in accordance with a Waiver Recovery Plan that enables a participant to maintain a home/apartment, encourages the use of existing natural supports, and fosters involvement in social and community activities.

Qualifications

 

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • Current auto liability insurance
  • Reliable transportation
  • Acceptable criminal record
  • Recovery Assistants must be registered with the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) as having completed an approved Recovery Assistant training program and meet any continuing education and/or training requirements set by DMHAS. Some education, training and/or experience in providing community support to people with substance abuse disorder, or in a related human service area is preferred.  Valid drivers license, automobile insurance and driving record which allows candidate to be covered by agency insurance policy may be required, depending on the program needs.
