Job Description

The Nurse Manager (RN) is responsible to ensure that each individual we serve receives quality individualized health care management, resulting in their optimal health. The Nurse Manager (RN) acts as a health/medical resource for staff and to ensure the company is in compliance with state requirements and organizational policies regarding medical care and records.  The Nurse Manager (RN) provides supervision and leadership to licensed direct care staff, acting as a role model to others, and supporting the Program Director (Administrator) with administrative responsibilities and coordination.  In the absence of the Program Director, the Nurse Manager (RN) will act on behalf of the Program Director and may serve as the designated back-up Administrator.  As a licensed staff, the Nurse Manager will administer medications per physician’s orders, administer gastrostomy tube feedings, and perform nursing procedures within the scope of the RN.

The Nurse Manager (RN) schedule must be flexible to accommodate various program, consumer, and staff needs.  The Nurse Manager (RN) is on-call at all times, unless prior arrangements have been made for someone of comparable authority to receive emergency calls. 

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Hold current, and valid, RN License to practice nursing in the State of California
  • At least 4 years nursing experience and at least 1 year of supervisory experience
  • Must (1) have a minimum of six months of prior experience providing direct supervision and special services; or (2) within six months of beginning to provide direct supervision and special services in the facility, complete at least 12 additional hours of continuing education.
  • Must be skilled, flexible, self-motivated, dependable, and able to work cooperatively with staff, interdisciplinary team members, and outside agencies
  • Must have knowledge of Title 17 and Title 22 regulations
  • Must achieve and maintain First Aid/CPR certification, and achieve competency in Direct Support Professionals training (DSP I and DSP II)
  • After one year of employment, must be able to achieve the Adult Residential Facility (ARF) Administrator Certification and maintain the certification.  Must complete the regional center Residential Services Orientation.
  • Clinical case management experience, residential services, and/or services to persons with developmental disabilities are preferred.

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Current valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving history (ability to obtain a California license within 30 days of hire if you currently posses an out-of-state license)
  • Must be able to pass a background check by the US Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and follow policies and procedures of the Company related to mandated reporting and confidentiality.
  • Physician’s clearance and a TB test clearance - paid for by Dungarvin
  • Two Professional references
