Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1. Responsibility: Provide and support client under Vocational rehabilitation contract.  Job Development activities include:

Duties:

a.                   Contacting employers.

b.                   Assisting the job seeker to complete employment applications.

c.                   Negotiating job tasks with an employer.

d.                   Accompanying the person to interviews.

e.                   Support to develop self-employment business opportunities, including accessing business financial resources for self-employment, and launching a business.

f.                    Performs duties for participants assigned to their caseload. Serves as a positive role model to participant and employer, modeling appropriate work skills, behavior and social interaction.

g.                   Utilizes a variety of job coaching techniques to meet the participant and employer needs. To include; identification and analysis of work to be performed, aiding the participant in mastering job duties, insuring that work performed by the participant meets employer expectations, documentation of progress, noting stabilization and recommending transition to follow-along services.

h.                   Provides follow-along interventions to participants assigned to caseload; a minimum of two contacts per month supported by documentation. Interventions may include counseling, advocacy, job coaching, job development, seeking volunteer opportunities, skill training, assessment and referral.

i.                    Provide supervision of program participants at work sites.

j.                    Assist in establishing clear employment goals during clients ISP and Career Development plan.  If an individual has an individual and integrated job, and is seeking job development for support to change the job or position to earn at least minimum wage, or to develop self-employment opportunities.

2.                  Responsibility:  To maintain written and verbal communication with director.

Duties:

a.         Check in with the director as required to confirm work assignments, start and ending times.

b.         Assist and seek assistance from director when appropriate. 

c.         Assist in communication with program staff regarding scheduled projects as  appropriate on an ongoing basis.

3.                  Responsibility:   To initiate and attend all required orientation/training as defined in policy and as directed by the director. 

Duties:

a.         Attend initial orientations.

b.         Initiate and attend annual training requirements within timelines defined in policy.

c.         Complete any additional training as requested by director.

d.         Recommend staff training needs to the director.

e.         Participate in training to improve skills in the use of structured training techniques for teaching job performance skills, job related skills and work behaviors.

4.                  Responsibility:  To promote positive team work with staff of the program sites and other organizational departments.

Duties:

a.         Cooperate with other team members in a professional manner. 

b.         Maintain a positive attitude toward staff, individuals, and the program. 

c.         Attend team meetings as requested.

d.         Offer constructive, positive solutions to problems. 

e.         Be open to feedback and constructive criticism.

f.          Maintain confidentially of departmental issues/concerns, persons served, and other Dungarvin staff.

g.         Uses a team approach to share information on participant progress or other relevant information. To include Supported Employment member the participant, Supported Employment Coordinator, family, advocate and other support members. Participate in developing and reviewing Supported Employment Work Plans to participants assigned to your caseload.

5.                  Responsibility:   To maintain records and complete documentation of work        accomplished, time, purchases, etc. as requested by the director.

Duties:

a.                   Responsible for documentation of services provided, notable occurrence, processing of time sheets, and attendance records to insure compliance with federal, state, and agency regulations.

b.                   Ensure billing is submitted timely.

 

 

 

Qualifications

The Employment specialist must have an Associates Degree in Human Services or, an equivalent combination of education, experience, and abilities.  Must be at least 18 years of age, able to meet physical requirements, respond to all requests for specific work services in a timely manner and be available to on call services. Must establish and maintain positive working relationships with program personnel and program staff.  Completion of APSE, SCRE or CESP certification requirement or DHS approved competency based employment training.
