Job Description

Responsible for implementing and monitoring systems that support people who are engaging in challenging behaviors.  The Behavioral Specialist’s role is to participate as a team member in order to facilitate enriched quality of life, desired lifestyles, increased levels of independence and productivity, and social/physical integration.

Qualifications

 

  1. Four-year college degree in a human service related field of study or, as determined by the State Director, a combination of education, experience and abilities.

  2. Knowledge of the philosophy, services and techniques required to provide effective program support for people with developmental disabilities who are engaging in challenging behaviors.

  3. Must have good decision-making, time management, and organizational skills, and must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and computer literacy.

  4. Proficiency in the English language.

  5. Maintain a current approved criminal background check.

  6. Must be willing to travel/work remotely

  7. Complete a minimum of 12 hours ongoing education in the field of positive behavior supports services, adaptive behaviors, behavior management or a related topic, each enrollment period.
